Have you cats did anything like this?

Okay. So this morning I open the window so Misa can perch out right. So I did open the window and we were both looking outside. Then I open the screen just a little bit and Misa almost jump out of it. >< Luckily I saved her life and quickly closed the screen. >< I feel so bad because she could of gotten killed that way if I let her jump out like that. We live in the first floor of my apartment.

So I learn my lesson. Never open the screen window if your kitty is right there.

Close call, good thing you were thinking fast! Yup, we can't open our latch windows that don't have screens; kitties will push the windows open. We have to really watch when we open doors, too, sometimes.

Believe it or not, my cats have jumped from pretty high places but don't do it very often. However, they love to rest in risky spots. My heart skips a bit every time but I trust their sense of balance.

this view would force me to change my undies and grab her before she fell!

My boy has fallen enough times that I do NOT trust his balance - at - all. He causes me strokes nearly daily when he is up on his tree (6 feet tall) cuz he will be half off as he bathes etc... I hate when he falls from there.

I have used silicone to hook all my window screen frames in place - and when the screen needs replacing I will use a razor blade to slit the silicone, replace the screen and re silicone them back into place.

I once had two foster cats that cooperated with pushing the screen out and they both got out. Imagine the shock I got when I was sitting calmly watching TV and I look up and a terrified looking cat is hanging on the screen of the window next to me. She looked like a cartoon character with her legs spread out in four different directions. Poor thing had jumped out of the window but then gotten so scared and wanted to get back in so she tried getting in through a closed window. The other kitty was nowhere to be found and made me a nervous wreck until he came back going in the same way he had got out.

Since then I always check that the screens sit tightly in their frames and can't be easily pushed out. Some people recommend having double screens as some cats and dogs can jump through some screens. It's a really good idea to check all your screens before you leave the window open. They are not a completely safe barrier to contain your pets inside.
