Kitten rescued

hello everyone:

I used to rescue lots of kittens and found homes for them, but after Lucas started getting sick I decided not to do it anymore. But today at 3pm an 8 year old girl, the daugher of a friend, called me crying because she rescued a kitten from drowning , it was raining so hard there was a water current in front of her house and she saw the tiny kitten being swept away. She took him out of the water and asked her parents fro help, sadly, they hate cats and she was crying and nobody helped , she even went to a neighbor for help, but nobody helped, in fact the neighbor told her to leve the cat in the water.

So, she called me. Isn't she great? I"m so proud of her. I couldn't say no, I went to her and took the kitten who was frozen and looked dead, I couldn't even tell is he was breathing. I put a towel around him and turned on the heating pad and gave him a massage and he started perking up.

He made it! He is doing good, it's been only 4 hours since he's been here and he looks great, I gave him some formula and he is now sleeping. The poor thing!

I wish the little girl's parents supported her more, she loves animals. She is calling me every two hours to ask how he is doing. I have him in the ouside bathroom, can't have him near my other kitties, I will keep him here until he is ready to go to a new home. he is so tiny!!

Here is Moses (because he came from the water)

That story made me cry!!

How cruel could her parents and that neighbour be!!! That poor little girl!

Moses is such a cutie and I'm so glad that little girl called you. I hope he thrives. What an ordeal he went through

Thank you for opening up your heart and home to this little guy. And for being such a good role model for that little girl.

Thank you he is doing well right now, the only thing that worries me is that he is breathing loud, he was cold and wet for a long time, I hope he doesn't get a cold. He is so young, he needs his mommy cat

I don't understand why people act like that, the girl's parents are not bad people, they are nice, but they don't like animals, and it was so sweet of the girls to call me, she was waiting for me in the rain holding the little show box with the kitten inside. I love that girl, by the way, her name is Wineska.

Oh my!!! He is soooooooo cute! Thank god he has you to take care of him. I will never understand why people are so mean! Why would anyone want this poor baby to drown or just not care at all. I hate how some people don't value the life of animals. You're an for taking him in! Hope he feels better soon!

OMG, I am crying here too! Poor, precious little baby... And what a wonderful young girl! I wish people would do more to encourage that type of behavior in children, NOT discourage it!

Yes Kailie, I wish people would encorage that behavior in children, but they don't The poor girl felt desperate, and I'm so glad I could help her.

I'm very sad right now because the kitten, Moses is not looking very good right now. He is fatiged, he is breathing very fast and he seems weak and letargic. I'm very worried, I have him here right now in my chest so he can feel warm. I just pray that he can get better.

Pobrecito!!! I can only imagine how cold he was in the water. Hope he gets well soon!

Yes, the poor baby was freeezing, Thank you so much I'm doing my best to keep him alive. I have to set my alarm to be able to feed him tonight. He is so quiet, it is weird, I"m really worried.

Is there a way you can take him to a vet? Maybe some antibiotics will help?
I'm wishing him the best! Thank goodness that Wineska and you were there for him! Even if her parents didn't like animals... I can't imagine they would discourage her from helping one in an emergency!

Thank you all for your kind words. I"m happy to say the kitten is doing great this morning!!! he is even running around and he was very excited to drink his formula. More great news! The kitten has found a great home!!! A friend of a friend wants him! Yay! Of course , he won't be going anywhere for now, he is too tiny and he needs to be bottle fed.

That's wonderful news! I was so worried about him that I hardly slept! I kept waking up to see if there were any updates.

I'm so happy that he has a forever home to go to. Does Wisenka know? Please tell her that we're all very grateful for her persevering and making sure that kitten was cared for!

Tahnk you so much, I"m so sorry i didn't post an update sooner. I gave him more formula just minutes a go and he was so hungry, he is a very active baby. I will tell Wineska about how proud you all are of her, I will take a picture of her with the baby so you can all see our little hero. She called me early this morning to ask me how he was doing

I told Wineska that I found a home for him, and he was sad because she wants the kitty, but her parents won't let her. I told her I understood how she is feeling, but that she should be happy, because she saved his life and now he has a change to have a wonderful happy life because of her, and she was happy. She told me she had a dream last night, she dreamed that her parents told her she could kee him, poor little sweetheart

Oh what a wonderful thing....Moses...such a sweet baby!!!

You have influenced that child to always look with compassion on any animal she may find.

Little Moses is a doll and I will keep him in my prayers.

You are a hero to both child and kitten.

So glad to hear he is doing well!!! I was worried he wouldn't make it through the night! I'm also very happy to hear you found him a good home already! Wineska is a great little girl!!! It's amazing that she saved this kitty even though her parents don't like animals. Most of the time kids that come from families that dislike animals dont care for them either. Thank Wineska and thank you for saving this precious little baby!

A new nickname for your friend Wineska:

"the Egyptian Princess!"

Some think her (the Egyptian princess who rescued Moses) was a girl name Bisiah or Bisyah.

I'm sure Moses will have some rough times due to all the water he likely swallowed or breathed in. That's how I got pneumonia a couple of years ago, and I thought it was going to kill me.

UPDATE! Little Moses was at the vets today and he has bronchitis, fever and an eye infection. So, he prescribed an antibiotic and an eye cream. he also inyected him with an antibiotic and something for his congestion.

The vet told me he thinks Moses has a good chance of recovering because he is so active, he walked and ran on the examination table and he also loved the nutrical they gave him.

the vet wants me to stop giving him formula and give him canned food, but he is so tiny!! I think he should have more formula, he doesn't even know how to eat. What do you guys think? Shoul I start feeding him ?
he is like a month old I think.

I say feed what he eats - if he eats kitten food, feed that... If he eats formula... that... I would feed whatever is more nutritiously/calorie packed though

Aww, poor little guy.
My vet also advised me canned food when Kuan Yin was around four weeks old. It was perfectly fine. I think it is for this little guy too as long as you can get him to take to it. Give it a try.
