Time to throw away your cell phone?

It's come to the point that I can't survive without my cell phone. Whether it is dangerous or not, I am willing to risk it.
How about you?

well mine has a calendar with audible alerts so i keep it near me almost all the time. i don't hold it up to my face (head/ear) during a conversation. i use speakerphone for that. the alerts are what really help me alot. .. also, tons of speed dial numbers in it. if i lost my phone it would be a major hassle.

I don't use my cell phone that often but truthfully, every time you turn around they are saying something else causes cancer, so we seem to be damned if we do damned if we don't, no matter what.

I very rarely use my cell phone as a phone. Except for during the planning of our wedding I never had a need for one until my husband got an iPhone. Once a cell phone could do more and be more than be a phone that's the only time I wanted one. I'm writing this on my phone, as a matter of fact.

So the fact that they are saying, again, that cell.phones give you cancer doesn't concern me. Not only because I really don't use one as a phone but because I learned a long time ago that these studies are rarely just what the headlines say. I always remember an article I read when I first started reading the newspaper that had the headline that bacon causes cancer. I really love bacon so this concerned me, even when I was ~10 or so. So I read the whole article and found that they had force fed the mice or rats over twice their body weight in bacon fat daily until something happened and that something was cancer. Even that young it was pretty obvious to me that if you an average adult ate 200+ pounds of bacon a day something bad is going to happen.

They have been saying that cell phones cause cancer for about 10 years. It hasn't stuck yet.

I think this is a valid reason for everyone to get rid of their cell phone asap! Can you imagine what life would be like without cell phones!?

Oh heavens no, I won't throw my phone away unless it does this:

I don't really talk on it much- I just text, do internet stuff, etc. I have a Sidekick 4g- love it!

I keep one cellphone in each front pocket of my extremely tight leather pants at all times, as a form of birth control.

Where l go my phone goes with me at all times!.

I only chat on it now and again if l need to make a quick call when i'm out, other than that i use mine mainly for texting and using the internet etc.... So no, i'm not giving mine up.

They've been saying this for years anyway and nothing is concrete

I so very rarely use my phone that it wouldn't bother me at all

I'm not overly concerned about getting cancer from my cell phone...or frome ating bacon or from drinking milk (i read milk gives you cancer).

I can take it or leave it. I only got it because I take Handi Transit and if the ride isn't on time I need to call and inquire about it. And there isn't always a phone in the vicinity of the pick up location.

I only really use it to call out. The only time I get incoming calls is when I'm out shopping with a friend. We use our phones to keep track of where each other is and make meet up points in the mall.

I didn't know about pay as you go phones when I got mine, otherwise I would have gone for that. I honestly don't think that I've racked up more than 3 hours of phone time since I got my phone in November 2008.

my sentiments exactly. I rarely use my cell phone. I text mostly to communicate and that is even slowed up lately, but I still have it with me when I go somewhere.

I'd go crazy without my cell! I use it constantly because we don't have a land line. I'm not concerned at all about it causing cancer, especially since EVERYTHING causes cancer these days.

My cell phone is the only phone I have also and I can't imagine going back to a land line. Since I got a smart phone I use it for a lot more than just phone calls. I really don't get concerned about all the warnings that come out. They have gotten to the point that they are like background noise to me.

Apparently cell phones are about as carcinogenic as pickles: http://www.slate.com/id/2295964/
I think we've all gone off the deep end worrying about stuff like this. Use common sense---don't go around with a cell phone glued to your ear for 10 hours a day---but it's not a huge worry.
