I had my ears pierced, six holes total about 3 weeks ago. They are all lobe earrings, not cartilage and I got them done at the spa I go to. Anyway I had a job interview so I had to get the surgical earrings out before I was supposed to, and somehow the hole had healed really quickly, I felt like I had to pierce one of them again when I put the earring back in. I put the surgical earrings back in and after a day or so they seemed okay.
Today I was playing with my 3 year old cousin and he yanked one of the surgical earrings right out
I decided I'm fed up with it, and I put in regular sterling silver earrings, just studs and I'm just going to wait for it to heal like that without the surgical earrings....
So I'm wondering if anyone has experience with piercings and removing the surgical studs early?? I tried to find info online but couldn't ....

The purpose behind the surigical studs is because the posts are thicker.

Can you use those sleeper style loops? Also dip whatever it is that you are using into polysporin. It will help heal the holes.

I made 3 of my ear lobe piercing myself with a safety pin and left the pin there for few weeks, then switched to silver earrings. (Note: I was 13 back then which may explain the stupidity
) They surprisingly were just fine.
I also lost the original stud I had when I had my nose pierced and had to put a silver ring in it 'too early', it was also fine. I still have all those piercings after 10+ years.

Of course the healing process is different on everyone, but I think you should be just fine as long as you remember to clean them and if possible do not remove the current studs you are wearing until they are completely healed.

I took the surgical studs out early. My holes are quick to close even now years later, not sure if taking the surgical studs out had anything to do with it.

My mother pierced my sister's ears when she was around that age, using a sterilized needle. That was it. She put ice on the ear lobe to numb it a bit, then used the needle. My sister was fine and the holes healed well, with a bit of alcohol and Neosporin, I think it was. She had regular post earrings she kept in for about six weeks or so. Never had a bit of trouble. I think that's what a lot of people did....at least back then.

I had my ears pierced about 30 or so years ago. I had such problems with the holes, couldn't find them, the front hole didn't exaclty match the back hole on my right lobe and I was constantly moving the earring around, trying to get the hole aligned properly. I gave up and the holes shut fairly quickly. Then last October I decided on the spur of the moment to get my ears re-pierced. I still have trouble with that right ear, but it's not as bad as it used to be....the girl who did them said that that hole was not aligned properly, so she couldn't use the exact same area. I kept the same earrings in for about five weeks, but now I wear hoops and such all the time. I seem to have a lot of trouble with post earrings, not so much with hoops and hooks.

You might want to use peroxide or alcohol at time, just dipping a cotton swab in and then swiping it around each ear hole, front and back. And twist your earrings once or twice a day, just to make sure that the holes are OK. Good luck!

The front and the back didn't align for me either so I had to make another hole in the back myself

I am pretty tolerant of pain though so it was no big deal for me. But now, I have two holes in the back of my ear one is almost healed and the other one is where my current earring goes through.
I didn't know the problem with them aligning was something that happens often, I thought it was just with my ears!
That happened with my first holes too, and I did the same thing, I just pushed the earring through and made another hole that aligns better, and eventually it was just fine!

I am also wondering if I can wear fake earrings with my holes still healing....I am tempted to try it...
