My kitty thinks he's the king

My cat, who is not neutered has developed a little behavioural issue. My friend thinks its because he thinks he's king. I have had Chronos since he was 6 weeks old. Currently he's 5 months old. He has moved once since I got him, and he has lived with 2 different men.

He has met 3 different dogs in his life. The first was Kayden. Kayden is a white husky. He is the dog of my old roommates girlfriend. Chronos would chase him around clawing at him and meowing.

Then came the 2 black labs, Coco and Echo. He only met them a few times, but their owner has met chronos several times.

Chronos loves me very much, and often follows me around. He gets what he wants, even angel food cake one day-- which he LOVED. Anyways he doesnt like to drink out of his water bowl and often demands tap water, or bottled water, which he drinks out of my hand.

There are rules, which he follows during the day, but at night chooses to ignore.

Anyways today my best friend came to visit me, and Chronos would not leave him alone! It has been a 2 months since he saw him, but he would follow him around and hiss at him for the 2 days he was here, the entire time. When I locked him out of the room (So he had the entire apartment, except my bedroom), he cried and cried until I opened the door. Then hopped on the bed and started to hiss again. Even at me when I tried to pet him. I dont think he was scared, because he slept on the bed for several hours too.

He has never hissed before, except once when I took him to the vet and the doctor touched his bum.

Is this a king of the castle syndrome? If so, how do I stop it?

He might be getting to the age where an unneutered male cat will start showing aggressive behavior. I'm no expert, though, and am hoping some other posters will weigh in on what's causing the "King of the Roost" behavior. I know that Pumpkin, though neutered, has that mentality - because he truly is the dominant cat in our roost!

I'd suggest getting him neutered, for his own health if not for the aggression issues.

Welcome to TCS!

Please do get Chronos neutered, the sooner the better. A reminder of the forum rules:

Quote:
2. Please make sure to spay and neuter your cats. Unless you are a professional breeder and your cat is part of a professional breeding program, please educate yourself to the importance of spaying and neutering by the time your cat is 4-6 months old. If you take care of a feral colony, please make sure to do so responsibly by practicing TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) protocols within the colony. By spaying and neutering, you enhance a cat's quality of life and improve their longterm health. You are also proving your love for cats because in acting as a responsible pet owner/caregiver you are minimizing the problem of cat overpopulation.
As already mentioned, it is possible that aggressive behavior is caused by not being neutered. It is also possible that he was simply distressed by this newcomer in his "territory" - maybe he carried a scent that Chronos didn't like?

Whoops looks like we posted close together! Once he's neutered you may notice him calm down. But sometimes it's just a certain scent that will throw them off, making them hiss/agitated.

LOL, it happens. It was my fault anyways, because I assumed everyone would think 5 months was still too soon for neutering. I was hoping to get him neutered at 5 months, but no vet around here will do it until he reaches at least 5.5-6 months.

I really do hope it calms him down, its only in the past month that he has started to become quite aggressive during play, or when im walking past him. My poor feet. It hurts just a little bit but tickles at the same time. Its awful!
