i am new to cats i found a stray, what i think is one, and he is letting me pet him but is still skiddish, this is only day 1, but he opens his mouth sometimes like something is caught in it and when he is laying down it looks like he has a hard time breathing. i cant afford to take him to the vet for about another week or so. hopefully less but has anyone had any similar experiance like that. is it normal. and if its not and you had experiance with your cat what did you do or what is the possabilites of what it is?

You should really get him to the vet, he could have asthma.

That you so much for taking this little guy in. He's lucky to have someone care for him in his time of need. I'm not sure what is causing your kitty's breathing problems. There could be a number of different causes some of which can be very serious. I would highly recommend that you get him to the vet as soon as you can. If you can't come up with the money try contacting local shelters and rescues to see if they can help in some way.

Does the cat have any other symptoms like ruuny eyes or nose? If so it's possible that he has a stuffy nose which makes it hard to breathe. You can help him breathe with a stuffy nose by giving him baby nose spray and/or putting him next to a vaporizer with vicks vapor drops.

If he doesn't have any cold symptoms it could be something serious like asthma which can be fatal if left untreated so this kitty needs vet care asap.

One of the possiblities is he has a heavy infection of worms. So a vet check up surely necessary, I agree.

Him rather easily accepting you MAY be because he feels he is ill, and needs help.
If so, it is good. The fostering will be much easier then otherwise.

Tx for helping,

Good luck!
