Hello everyone, I'm back again with yet another issue I have with my year and a half old kitten.

About 2-3 days ago, we noticed that he started sneezing and licking his nose. The next day his right eye was extremely watery and he was keeping it half closed. His breathing is also different .. We talked to some of our friends who have experienced a sick cat and they said to just leave him be for a few days, and if he doesn't seem to be getting better - then take him to the vet.

He's still sneezing and his eye is still the same today.
I was just wondering if there's anything that we could do for the next couple days to help him feel better - before we have to take him to the vet

It sounds like an upper respiratory infection, like a kitty cold. Usually it's caused by a virus but it can sometimes turn bacterial and the kitty will need antibiotics. There are things you can go at home to make him feel a bit better. Start by giving him L-Lysine 250mg twice a day for at least a couple of weeks. It helps boost the immune system anf fight the virus. You can get it in a powder that you add to some canned food.
If he has a stuffy or gunky nose you can use baby nose spray like Little Noses. Also make sure to clean his nose and eyes. To help breathing and soothe airways you can use a warm steam vaporizer with some vicks vapor drops in it. If it's bad you can put the cat in a carrier a few feet from the vaporizer under the table or you can put him with it in the bathroom.
It's super important that the cat eats and drinks properly. When a cat has a stuffy nose and can't smell he will not be interested in eating. So it helps to give him some smelly food like Fancy Feast with fish. To make it even smellier you can put it in the microwave for a few seconds. If he doesn't eat enough you can supplement his food intake with Nutrical. If he eats and drinks very little it becomes necessary to get him to the vet to get some sub-q fluids.

Usually a URI will go away after a week or so but especially if this is a new thing that he's never had before I think a vet visit is in order.

Good luck!

Thank you SO much for all the helpful information! He didnt seem to have any eating problems because he actually gained a bit of weight these few days - I guess because he wsn't as hyper as he usually is

I woke up this morning though and he seems to be getting back to his normal self and he's around us a lot more (He would hide almost all day when he was really sick) and he was trying to play with his momma earlier. So he seems to be getting over this cold - Thankfully!
