Tattoos!

I just got my 2nd tattoo. I am loving it. It's my own design that took me 3 months to work on. I got it for sentimental reasons. Short reason: I believe a dragonfly is my grandfather in angel form, looking out for me when I needed it most. the real detail is much longer, lol.

Here's photo's if anyone's interested

Do any of you have tattoos? If so, what/where are they and why did you choose the design?

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL hun, congrats! I LOVE tattoos and currently have 8 of my own. My brother is a tattoo artist, so that makes it VERY convenient for me to get them.

You can see mine here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...1533.503770326

I'd love to see your tattoo when you get it done!

My tattoo does have a sentimental value to me. 3 years ago, I got laid off from work. I picked up a security job in the city.. which was THE WORST JOB EVER!! After a year of sending resumés, calling, filling out application, I didn't get a single phone call. I was feeling really depressed. I cried a lot and was almost to "That point". Till one day, walking in the city at 3 am to get to my crappy security job, a dragonfly comes and lands on my shoulder. it sits with me on my walk. Strange, a dragonfly in the middle of NYC? eh. I get to the building, it takes off. hours later, I get 2 phone calls, asking me for an interview. so yay! I go on these interviews, and they both tell me I am too overqualified. Again, I feel depressed and "to that point". a week later, again, a dragonfly comes along in the city on my way to work, keeping me company. Hours later, I get 2 phone calls from the same 2 people I interviewed with, saying I was hired! I chose a job that felt right and I love it.

I told my sister this story, and she strongly believes the dragonfly was my late grandfather in his angel form, looking out for me, to provide me comfort and to tell me things will turn around soon. It made sense to me, and now, I have my grandfather in his angel form on my shoulder, where he sat in my dark days. I have him angled out to where he's looking out.. as in looking out for me.

I love it. Great choice for location too. I plan on getting another tattoo in honor of my dog Wilbur again, soon..... Thanks for sharing.

That is lovely!

I have one on my foot, on the top. That hurt! But I love mine.

Will see if I can find a pic. I had what is supposed to be a primrose, as it was my Grandmothers favourite flower.

I am thinking of maybe one more on my wrist or hand, a Celtic horse, I metal detect and have found a few gold coins, the horse depicted on them is so beautiful.

Just a tiny one though.

Feralvr & SukiSal, I'd love to see your tattoo when you get it! Or at least the design ideas

I have the leo symbol on my back as well as a memorial tattoo for my dad.

This design will be my next one. It says my name and if you look at it upside down it says my husbands name.

Woohoo! Sorry to be late to the party

I only have two - but have ideas for dozens more.

Here are my two:

Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme - on the front of my left ankle

Big jump to a much bigger, darker tat! lol! cherry blossoms on my right shoulder

BY THE WAY - I am NOT a dirty person! The dirty spots in the crease in my arm and on my neck are from ink he wiped away from the tattoo. I hate this pic for that reason, but love my freshly tatted skin! I also love this tat because it peeks out from shirts ever so slightly, and I get lots of compliments.

I love tattoos... they are such a thrill to me. I love having a concept and seeing an artist bring that to life with their own spin on it. I never, ever know what it's going to look like when I get out of the chair, and it's exhilarating! Some people skydive, I get tattooed

I also have 10 ear piercings. 4 in my lobes, left tragus, and right rook.

Karen - I might have missed it, but what's your first tattoo? I love watching the in-progress pics. You look like you're getting a pedi instead of a tat

Kailie - loved ALL of your tattoos! Especially the cat's eye and the cat on the back of your neck!

It's never too late to join the party! I love the flowers! Nice!

My first is a "Dragon"fly tattoo I designed when I was in high school. The body of a dragon (which looks like a seahorse to some people) with dragonfly wings. waited like 5 years before getting it done. The tattoo is pretty blurry already, it needs to be touched up. I'll have to take a pic soon.

I got a tiny dragonfly on my leg, soon to be covered I hope. (I was dumb enough to go to a mediocre artist)

I want to get a tattoo in memory of my Aunt and Uncle that were killed by a drunk driver back in 97. I have ideas but I am having sooo much trouble putting them together in way that makes me happy. Any creative artists around wanna help! :P

I have three tattoos. A classic Americana style purple rose up on the left side of my decolletage. My second one is on the right side of my lower back, and is a beautiful henna-styled rose. And my newest and probably my most favorite is a grey-wash Japanese peony. It is VERY large, and takes up about half my tummy, stretching from the tip of my pelvic area up to my waist.

The artist who did it is so incredibly talented and it is perfect.

Those are all my tattoos for now. I think I am done...but then again, I've always wanted "Some say the world will end in fire" tattooed on the inside of my bicep. So...we'll see how long I can stay away

Love your's as well hun, VERY nice!

I told my brother that he better have my next one ready for my for my birthday next month. He said he has a design of a cat looking out from behind a rock in a garden but I haven't seen the design yet. Tats are soooo addictive, and having a brother for a tattoo artist makes it that much worse!

I can't even imagine. I wouldn't have any plain skin left! Be sure to show us your new tat once you get it!!

That is a beautiful dragonfly. I think you are right it being your beloved grandfather letting you know it would be alright.
DH of 26 years just retired (temporarily) is a tattoo artist. I have about 40% coverage, but my favorite is my little tabby with a flowered collar. I have a Japanese dancer with a tiger at her feet that is beautiful. The design came from an old Japanese woodcut. I have been trying to get him to post pics forever. I can't do it, because I am a technotard.
I am sick, diabetes, hep c, and a laundry list of other stuff, so he does not want to tattoo me any more. He said he would do one more, so I chose a beautiful Claddagh for my wrist. It will be the only one visible in regular clothes. You could never tell I had any in my regular clothes, jeans and t-shirts.
