My wife and I recently had twins, but this has led to issues with one of our cats (we have two). About a month after both kids came home from the NICU one of the cats has started marking. So far he has peed multiple times in the baby seats, once or twice in the nursery (small lines, not actual bladder emptying), and even deficated in a laundry basket that had children's clothes in it. We know which cat it is because 1) we know our cats (the cat that is doing it my wife refers to as our "fur baby" because of how much attention he wants) and 2) one day we saw him scratching at the kid seat but he didn't urinate on it at that time (he waits until we aren't around).
We're going to try some of the pheromone stuff, but is there anything else that we can do to try and stop this behavior should the pheromone spray not work? We really like the cat and we don't want to get rid of him, but we simply can't have him marking our childrens stuff (and yes both cats are neutered). He is also very skittish around new people, but he does better when up high or after he gets to know you (which can literally take months of the guest coming over on a regular basis). Though he doesn't seem bothered by the kids other than marking their stuff (he has even jumped into my wife's lap the second that she moved a kid to her shoulder to burp him).
Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated!
