I just wanted to know if anyone could tell me why one of my girls threw up yesterday. She only did it once, and hasen't done it since... so I'm wondering if she's ok...
really if it was once, don't be to concerned. Cats are notorious gulpers- you can take an old telephone book, and carve out a spot for the food bowl and elevate the bowl. It takes a bit of work to make this crude elevated feeder, but it helps the cat when it eats to relax the throat and not gulp.
It could be that a treat or somethng didn't sit well. Maybe she got into something, and you don't know about it? There are many causes for a cat to throw up. A cat will also throw up worms, have you checked that? If it is a cat that can get outside, then eating too much grass can cause a cat to throw up. If a cat gets something caught in it's throat, then it might throw up. Did the cat get a hold of the wrong food? It may be that it ate some other cat's food, and wasn't used to it so it threw up. I know if you change a cat's diet to quickly, it might throw up. Cat's don't like change, especially in their diet. I'm not sure what caused it, but I don't know the circumstances that it happened either. Did something change or happen? Stress can trigger many things to happen. Did the diet change, or did the cat get into a chemical. It maybe that the cat got into some sort of a cleaner (like a poison) and it threw it up soon enough that it wasn't effected. Keep us posted, and watch the cat carefully.
To answer them for you- There were no worms, I live on the 3rd story of an apartment building so utside is no option, although I did recently have to change their food ((I had to give them some of their older food because I had forgotten to pick up a new bag of food)), 3 of her brothers left about a week ago, and she grew up with them, and all of the chemicals I have in the house are cat friendly ((I use viniger and water to clean my floors, and my soap that I use is organic, and well as my shapoo and conditioner.)).
She seems ok now, running and playing like she usualy does, I just needed to know if I should be worried and take her to the vet or not.
