Cats fighting at food dish

A co-worker asked me about this. She has 3 cats, 2 indoor, 1 indoor-outdoor. #3 cat is fighting with 1 & 2 at the food bowl at night--loud enough to wake up the family. She's ready to get rid of cat #3 O(indoor-outdoor cat).

Any suggestions on how to stop the problem, apart from getting rid of #3 cat? (I personally think she just wants to get rid of him, because I suggested trying to work out the behavioral problem; she grimaced and said "No", but I'm still going to try to help the cat). Thanks.

My first recommendation would be to have multiple food bowls. I have three cats and five bowls for dry food located throughout my house and each has their own plate for canned food in their favorite places to eat.

Separate bowls, and not all in the same place. They need their own space.

And better still, maybe just reschedule their feeding time to the day?

Seperate food bowls in seperate places will go a long way to help with this. And/or pulling the food bowls at night and free feed during the daytime.
