Worried about my Kitty- thinks its my pregnancy

Hi there, I am new to this site, so I thank you all for reading this!
I have a cat that is about 2 1/3 years old. She has always been very attached to me, follows me around, sits in between my legs, almost like a dog, sleeps with me, so on.. Dont get me wrong, sheis a cat so she has her moments where she doesnt want to be bothered as well. I also live with a roommate right now, and she has two cats but they all get along for the most part.
My finace and I do not live together right now, so I always split my time between home and his place... Evie (my kitty) never had a problem with it because she is happy at home and my roommate is very loving to her, plus I am home at least once a day for a while and i feed her and give her treats, play with her, I treat her like a child.
Needless to say I have spent alot more time at home cause I found out I was pregnant, I have given her the same amount of attention IF NOT MORE, I notice she has become even more attached to me, and if the other cats come around she growls, she used to do that but its alot now. she gaurds my room like a pitbull. Last week I spent the night at my fiances and that morning my roommate said my kitty pooped on the couch. She has never done anything like this, when we got her she peed a couple of times when my fiance and i left the home, but it happened only a few times and stopped... it is not the thrid time this week she has done this... one night when i got home, i woke up and she was sleeping on my belly, so I am thinking she must know i am pregnant (she has never done this either).
My question is, is there something to worry about? is this a protective thing? or a jealouisy thing? or a your mine thing? And of course can i make it stop?
I give her so much attention, so I know she is deprived of it and like i said this just happened this week!
Thank you all
Andrea

Hi Andrea...
First of all, congratulations on the baby!!
Second, no,m it is not normal for cats to just start pooping or peeing outside of the box... For peeing, #1 reason is health related; for poop, # 1 reason seems to be litterbox aversion then Health, then stress.
Have you changed litters recently? Anything at all different about the litterbox? Location? Cleanliness? Closed now as oppposed of open?
Stress: The baby on the way could be, but not likely -
Has your fiancee been in more frequently? Changes in furniture? Anything different?

Health - If none of the above is different, I would get her to the vet - she might have a bellyache for example, and is avoiding the box due to pain.

Feliway Plug in can reduce the stress, Cat Attract litter can help with directing her back to the litter box.

What litter are you using?

Thank you for replying! And that you! Im really excited, its my first!!!!
I haven't changed anything with her box, sometimes the other cat poops in it, but hes done that before and she never had a problem with it. There hasnt been many changes in the home, this is why it caused concern.. I have been home now and she hasnt done it again, last night she did curl up next to my belly, so I really think she is growing aware to the pregnancy (she used to only curl up by my feet or back) This morning she layed on my belly again, Im starting to wonder if she is just mad at me for leaving the house at this time, I think she may think something up and it makes her worry? She has been bit of a protector cat lately.. She is truly a awesome cat, i love her to death, she is actually my first baby.. I even feel cheesy for saying it, but she is just great, I hope she doesnt get jealous. I think I may just take her in to the vet to be on the safe side.. she isnt peeing, its just poo...
Thanks again! I really like this site!

I would take her for a thorough check up at the vet. Behavioral changes can be a sign of illness. I don't think the cat would act differently because you're pregnant and since nothing else has changed my bet would be that it's a physical issue.

Good luck!

Also, try adding extra boxes - for 2 cats, 3 boxes.... Try using Cat attract litter.
Even if it is for your cat only, offer 2 litter boxes. Cats sometimes like peeing in one box and pooping in another....
