Hello.
Recently I found out that my 13 year old Calico Cat, Kitty, has a tumor in her leg...
Apparently it is traveling up through her bone, and our only options are amputation or to allow it to continue until she can't walk on the leg anymore in which case we would have to put her to sleep.

My hometown where Kitty lives is in a pretty rural town, and we know the Vet that would be doing the procedure personally...
I was just curious what the prices would be for amputation?
I'm estimating around $1000, but I'm not TOO sure.

Also I'm a little in a bind of what to do about the whole situation, I'd like to do what's best for Kitty, but I'm not sure exactly what that would be considering she IS 13 years old. ]:

Thank you for your help!

I'm sorry to hear this. I have had an amputation done on an 11 year old and was amazed how well She coped. The main thing you need to know is whether this would cure her cancer and whether it has spread, or if there was some arthritis that would cause issues - if the first, yes, if the second, no.

$1000 sounds Way too expensive. But that's just my opinion.
As for the cancer, I say take the leg off right now. Cats do fine with only three and if you are lucky, this could be her chance at a cancer free life!
