My kitten is almost 7 months old and she has never been much of a jumper. She will look at things that I would think would be within her jumping abilities and cry but not try to get up. Once last week I put her on the item she so desperately wanted to reach, but then she could not get down and just looked at the floor and tried to get down, but then pulled herself back up and looked fearful. A month and a half ago I adopted a playmate for her; Humphrey jumps and can reach heights like I would expect of a "typical" cat. He jumped to the same level that I had to place her on and can jump to and from it easily and without fear. Phoebe, however, still will not jump and must have other items nearby to jump on first. I don't believe that she cannot jump, but that she is afraid. What can I do to help her move past this and jump like a normal cat?

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

Have you tried enticing her with treats? or her favorite toy (have her leap up for the toy?)
I am interested to see what else has to suggest here

Is your little girl a short haired or long haired cat...I've read some long haired cats just aren't much for jumping. That said, if there are spots you think she really wants to get to (window ledge, whatever), can you put something near it (let's say a chair) so she can jump to the chair and then to the ledge? I wonder if she fell at some point and is now afraid.
My girl happily jumps, but she simply can't make some of the jumps my boy does....she often does intermediate jumps to get to her spot. But, I've found her on the top of my fridge (floor to counter, counter to fridge). She also seems more, well, strategic about her jumping...she seems to like to know she'll make it there and back safely....my boy has sometimes just jumped and I've had to come get him down because there really wasn't a good way down.
Worst case, I'd ask the vet to give her a good lookover to make sure she's developing properly.
