My hubby and I are thinking of taking alittle road trip there for a long weekend. I was wondering if anyone has been there and what kind of stuff is there to do? I found a ghost tour!! and I think we are going to do that click here to see info about itTour I'm sure we will do some good shopping. I need to sucker someone in to watching the cat though!

Been there and loved it!

Make sure you're there when the open air museum is open. It's quite worth it, I missed that.

The Salem Witch Museum is a bit hokey, but if you like that kind of stuff it's interesting.

The House of the Seven Gables--WONDERFUL!!!! I had to re-read the novel afterwards.

Went there last October with Sandie, Imagyne, and Airprincess. We had an absolute blast, even though it rained all day. We went Halloween weekend, which I would not recommend, as the crowds were H-U-G-E. But there is a lot to see, both entertainment-wise and historically.

I was there about 7 yrs ago, loved it! Amazing shopping! Pagan stuff in EVERY store!

Avoid passing near Hartford CT and Boston during rush hour. I got stuck in Boston AM traffic and Hartford PM traffic. It was a nightmare! If you want the direct route, go straight up I-95. I took the scenic route through the Poconos, into NY via the Catskills (stopped at Catskill game farm, a very cool place, where you can bottle feed baby goats and deer!), and then west across the entire state of Massachussetts. The Berkshires were lovely. If you have the time to take the scenic route, it is well worth it and highly recommended.

I could have spent hundreds in the stores there. Enjoy!

It is always hard to find a baby sitter for my crew because I have two BIG doggies! People either are scared of the cats or the dogs
We can normally get one of rich's friends to do it though. he owes him a big favor!

I drove out to Salem in October 2001 for the Halloween Happenings week. Some of the museums were hokey, but the Gables House and a few other historical sites were cool. It was awesome to walk through the old cemetery. I stayed in a nice B&B and would highly recommend it. It was about a 15 minute walk from the activities.

You could catch the train and spend a day in Boston.

I also attended at Witches Ball while I was there. that was pretty cool.

I have tons of pics if your interested.

ACK! You brought back my childhood nightmares-lol!
I watched "Salem's Lot" many years ago and have had terrible flashback's of the scene where the girl sees "herself" floating outside her bedroom window and scratching to get in!!! AAAAGGGHH!
That movie is the reason why I sleep with the covers up to my neck at night.
Spooky place to visit!

Here is the description of the movie:
What if there were vampires? What if this really did happen? What if, what if, what if?This book by Stephen King exlpains all! The story takes place in a New England town named Jerusulamâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s Lot, but is nicknamed â€[emoji]8482[/emoji]salemâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s Lot by its citizens. It is a small town, and if something happens to one person, everybody knows by noontime that day, even earlier. When Ben Mears, a former resident, reappears to write a book based on the Marsten House, he finds things going wrong. The house, which was inhabited by a man that killed his wife then hung himself, is now occupied for the first time since the incident. But from the point he arrives, tragedy strikes. People, a lot of people, become sick and die very suddenly...some of the bodies are even stolen after awhile.

I would love to go back to Salem. But who would keep my cats company?
Somehow, I can't see hiring a catsitter for 15 cats...

Does anyone having any website links to places to stay of things to do? I'm thinking late september early october. I would have to go at halloween but alot of people go at that time of the year. Since rich and I are both "witches" or something like that
I think it will be really interesting! He is AWESOME at finding haunted places. Another place i would like to go is nantucket. he said the "haunted" spots there aren't really but down where the ships come in is VERY haunted.

I know they have whale watching boat trips out of Salem; I would have gone, but it was raining and chilly the day I was there, and I figured it would only be worse out on the water! I didn't stay in Salem either, so I can't recommend anyplace to stay.

One thing I'd recommend is to go to www.witchvox.com and look for shops in Salem. They have state-by-state listings of people, groups and stores, so I would think there would be info (and possibly links to websites) on different shops in town.

There are a lot of tourist-trap type places there, which I avoided. I mostly went in and out of the dozens of extremely cool shops. If I were to go back, I would have to save for a while beforehand since I know I could easily drop $500 in an afternoon there if I had that kind of spare money. Cool, cool, cool stuff. More Witchy stuff than I have ever seen in one place!!!

Val, you will find more stuff there than you imagined existed!
I know that was how it was for me, I was stunned by how much there was. Even the Fotomat store sold pentacle pins and keychains LOL!
