I'm not surprised she hasn't been relocated, unfortunately. Isn't the National Zoo part of one of the most respected scientific organizations in the country, the Smithsonian Institution ? And didn't they just sponsor "research" (just not in the scientific, peer-reviewed-publication sense) on cat predation "validating" her position ? If it takes someone of prestige acting out in cruel and illegal ways to discredit all that, at least something good will have come as a result.

Still so unutterably sad for the cats ! People like that are monsters. ...
YES, I absolutely agree and this story turns my stomach to hear of this utterly inhumane cruelty on feral cats by a researcher associated with the Smithsonian. Makes me wonder if anyone else on her "team" was in on this with her
. I do hope Karma comes to "poison" this monster.....

Her first court date was today. Apparently all that happened was another court date of June 15 was set for a "status hearing."

Those sending letters directly to the zoo are getting standard responses that don't say anything.

From the National Zoo "On October 31, the Smithsonian accepted Dr. Dauphine’s resignation; it was effective immediately."

I couldn't have been more elated as I was when I found out about Nico being found guilty. Was a great day when I heard the news :woohoo:. I also hopes this sends out a warning to other "cat-hating bird lover's" who think about harming the feral cats :nono:

Guess I should have updated the thread! Nico's trial was on 10/24. It lasted three days. She was found guilty of attempted animal cruelty. It's all over the net, and the Washington Post and Science magazine both reported on it (among MANY others). The surveillance tape was released.

She resigned after the guilty verdict was made on Halloween.
