Some of you now that our cat Muffin was attacked in the yard last October and still has issues because of that. Since that happened we have been putting them in a large pet cage in our garage at night. The walls and garage door are well insulated and it stays reasonably cool and warm there. However when we get hot, like 100 degree days, it will be too warm at night for them. So hubby surprised me. He called the heating and air conditioning company and had them install a separate unit, heat and A/C for the garage. Now the cats will be cool and comfy when it comes time to go to bed. I just gotta love that man.

You got a good hubby there, Barb!

I always adjust the ac/heat while I'm away so the furkids stay cozy & comfortable.
I gotta think of a better solution for the strays this winter: I felt just horrible for them this past winter cuz it got so cold here, which isn't typical for this area.

Glad they have AC in the garage during summer. That is wonderful!
Are any of your cats ever allowed in the house?

My cats live in the yard inside a fence with the cat fence in system attached to the top. My husband is allergic and cannot tolerate the cats inside the house. I don't want a lecture about that as he has tried everything and it simply didn't work. He truly loves our cats, just can't live in the house with them. They will also now have heat when it is extremely cold as the new until also heats.

Definately a keeper there!!

And don't fret about what others think, most people would have just given them up, you guys are doing what you have to, and it's working. Everyone is happy and healthy

Thank you so much for the encouragement, Momto3boys.
Yes, he is a keeper. He bought the fence in system from a website and paid quite a bit for that. We have used it many years with much success. However we built a house in 2002 and moved out in the country on my grandfather's land that has been passed to me. Where we live now there are animals to contend with. We had not had any problems until last Oct. when something managed to get in the fence and get ahold of Muffin. It happpened during the night. Now the cats just stay in the yard during the day hours. We would never give up our cats. We just had to make some adjustments to be able to keep them. They are part of our family. Hubby does enjoy sitting on our screened in porch with the cats and can tolerate that okay. Thank you again for the encouraging words.

I wasn't going to lecture you, I was simply curious.
So glad your cats have AC during the summer and also heat during the winter.
