Wellness dry food

Thread Starter
Dear all,

I would like to substitute Wellness dry food (for kittens) with other brand because it seems that it gives my cat Rio diarrhea and occasionally blood in his stool.
We have taken him to the vet a couple of times because we were worried it may be something more serious but he's fine and the vet suggested to change his dry food.
He doesn't have problems with Wellness soft food and likes it very much. Rio is 8 months old.
Have you experienced anything similar with Wellness dry food and could you recommend another brand for sensitive stomach?
Thank you!

I tried Wellness and the same thing happened to me, so I switched to Innova but it made my kittens vomit.

Why don't you cut out the dry food entirely?

I would suggest switching to an all wet diet if it is financially feasible for you. Canned food is more digestible than dry. If it's not feasible, my suggestion would be to find a food with a single source protein like Natural Balance's limited ingredients diets, or nature's variety Instinct formulas. I would stay away from beef, however, as it is difficult to digest for some cats.

We feed mostly wet with half a tablespoon of dry a day. We have no problems with Wellness CORE, but what we alternate with is Merrick Before Grain, the yellow (chicken) one.
