Good morning folks...

Lets talk about smoking.............

How many smoke? If you've quit, when did you quit?

I had smoked many years, but quit almost 2yrs ago using Champix

Time flies, it seems just yesterday I had posted my quitting smoking thread on here, and now as of June 8 2011, I have quit for 2yrs..... this is my second longest quit, and what I believe to be the final quit.

I am NOT going back to the one thing I can control about my health....goodness, I have enough other health issues that I don't need to return to chronic bronchitis, wheezing, etc from smoking.

Didn't you guys quit around the same time the "quitting smoking" thread was on?
I know there were a bunch of us trying, some succeeded and some didn't.

I'm curious just on how everyone did or is doing with it

Nope, we quit before I joined this site.
We quit cold turkey and Dana had a MUCH harder time of it than I did. He drove me nuts.

I started smoking when I was around 20 and smoked 1-1/2 packs a day for 20 years. Tried quitting a few times, but not seriously I finally quit when I turned 40.....so I've been smoke-free now for 16 years.

It's a HUGE accomplishment that you should be proud of.

Have smoked on and off for years. Never a heavy smoker, but socially would smoke. I would say I smoked only on weekends. Quit three months ago
But sneak one once in awhile still

I started smoking when I was very young. I smoked quite heavily for over 45 years and finally quit in 1990 after two attempts. Now I can't stand the smell of smoke. It actually makes me sick now.

I have smoked off and on since I was 14 (half my life!). I never had trouble quitting for months at a time, and at my heaviest smoking, I was at about 2 packs... a week.

Happy hour was always my downfall, I liked to smoke when I drank. These days it's the commute to work that kills me... I've got a longer commute now than I've had in YEARS, and our public transportation is pretty crappy, so I admit I've been smoking in my car to and from work.
I keep telling myself I need to just quit and not start again.

Smoking is bad for you anyways. There's all kinds of risk that can happen, birth defects on a child, maybe it can effect a pet if you smoke indoors, getting lung cancer etc. And why people do it? They are idiots!

It's great to see the folks that were around when the Smoking thread was up have stayed the course. My 2 years was in January and I've never looked back or even cared to smoke since the day I quit.

I don't smoke! Mostly because my uncle is a chain-smoker and I've been trying to get him to quit since I was six years old.

I don't smoke. I've had a cigarette here and there socially (on two or three occasions total, I think), but that's all.

I used to smoke for 5 years back when I was a stupid teenager. I quit almost 8 years ago.
I hate the smell if people smoke inside someone's home, but I like it if the smoke comes 'fresh' from outside (but it has to be summer
). And I do miss the smell in bars as it covered quite well other nastier odors..
It's nowadays illegal to smoke in bars and restaurants over here unless they have this specially built and ventilated 'smoking area' (no drinks allowed in those areas) in there.
