A colony mate of Shell's could use some vibes!

These poor, poor cats were never given a chance to be healthy or happy! MA says she knew she was in trouble when Samson (a beautiful white kitty!) started banging his head against the wall - in fact, against anything and everything.

He was at the vet for a 2 1/2 hours - he had a third eyelid flip performed. The vet suspects it's cancer (can't find another explanation for the mass), but wants his eye to rest for two weeks before the surgery is performed to remove his eye and both ear flaps.

He had a drain put in his forehead (and his eye stitched closed). He's got a soft e-collar on to prevent Sam from messing with the drain.

Samson isn't suffering now that he's got his "surgical eye patch" and the drain! He's playing, eating, drinking - and loving. The only one suffering is MA, because she's still dealing with Shell's bills, and Samson's procedure isn't going to be free.

Samson can use your prayers, your vibes, and/or your help, if you can... There's a ChipIn set up on MA's blog http://www.feralcatbehavior.com/

sweet Samson!

I guess it never ends with the need to save these cats. I can only imagine the emotional and financial drain it must be taking on MA. to her for sure. That just sounds so painful for Samson to have this eye issue and bless MA for, again, taking on this "mission" to save this boy. I sure will pray and hope for Samson and Ma too. Will go to the blog and thanks for the link

Thanks for posting this. I admire so much all MA does. I don't know how she does it.

Poor baby!

Laurie, thanks for posting this.

Sam has taken a turn for a worse I am afraid. He started out with the bloody, thin discharge and now the eye (even with the third eyelid over it to form a natural patch) is pouring pus.

I hooked up a few months ago with a local woman who calls herself a "kitten rescuer." Well, she isn't. She keeps these cats in horrible conditions and doesn't vet them. She also keeps any Siamese females that aren't spayed intact "because they throw such loud, beautiful babies." Sigh......

She is the one who "rescued" the colony where shell was living. There were ten cats total, I took the eight sickest ones and Samson is the second to the last one left. All the others had to be euthanized despite the best efforts of the vet team. I really don't want Samson to be the the seventh, leaving the only remaining cat to be Shell's mom.

But I am afraid after such a scary night with Sam's eye that when he goes to the vet tomorrow, he won't be coming back home with me. He has done his round of antibiotics, steriods and anti-inflammatory and pus means only one thing-infection. He is shaking his head all the time now and tomorrow morning can't come soon enough for me. I will be the first client at the door.

About the "rescuer" they have tried to shut her down so many times, but she feeds the cats, she neuters and spays some and they live in her house or outside- crammed in carriers if you call that a life. So far, no cats have been seized because for whatever reason? I did have it out with her last week and told her I would not take any more cats from her. I've tried to help her by going over and gently trying to tell her the best way to handle these strays: get larger carriers or cages, set up a quarantine room with a bleach step, feed L-Lysine, flea treat the cats and take each new cat or kitten to the vet immediately. But it all falls on deaf ears.

At any rate, I thank all who have sent prayers and monies my way. Sam can surely use both. He is a sweet, sweet boy and tomorrow is going to be hard on both of us, I'm afraid.

You're truely a kitty angel

My heart and prayers go out to you and Samson, I sure hope this isn't the end for him, what a sweet boy...there really needs to be more people like you in this world

That is just the saddest story and makes me angry that that woman calls herself a cat rescuer . I feel very, very forlorn for those cats in Shell's colony. Ma, my heart goes out to you today and just seeing Samson sparked something deep in my heart. I am very sorry he is in such misery and thank God you got him and gave him a few days of love, care and if necessary tomorrow a peaceful, dignified end of life. . I can only begin to imagine the toll this has taken on your soul. I wish I could take Samson and help you, Ma........ He is an angel

I am so sorry to hear this, but at least these cats came to you, got to have love and kindness, good food, vet care and allowed to go peacefully and with someone who loved them, things could have been so much worse for them.
