Help! Max is peeing on our clothes!!

Hi,
My husband and I have had our a male cat, Max, for about four months now. He was a rescue (my husband found him dumpster diving at work) but he has adjusted to his new home well. He's about a year old now, he has been fixed and has had all of his shots. About a month ago, the week that we took him to be spayed, he started urinating on our clothes. We know that he is not sick and he only pees on our clothes. He'll poop in the litter box but will not pee in it anymore. We do have 2 other female cats (both fixed as well), so we decided to give him his own litter box. We have a fairly big bathroom, so we put him in there with his own food, water and box at night and we make sure to keep the other cats from using it. We've been doing this for about 2 days now, he will poop in his box but still refuses to pee in it (he is still looking for clothes to pee on). I've cleaned each of the spots that the clothes were several times with Icky Icky Poo Poo which seems to keep him from peeing in the same spot, but he just looks for other clothes to pee on. We both really love Max, but our if this behavior doesn't stop we may have to get rid him. PLEASE HELP!!!

It sounds like he has a urinary tract issue. Take him to the vet. You never know, he might have gotten something around the same time as his surgery. If the vet says he's ok and it's behavioral, you'll have to try to figure out the whys of it all. My sister has a boy cat who loves to pee in her laundry basket of clothes. She just doesn't leave it out where he can get to it anymore. Your guy sounds sick to me. I would get him to the vet asap.

Thanks for the response. I haven't noticed any blood in his urine and he doesn't seem to be in pain when he pees. Could he still be sick?

One frustrating thing about cats is that you can't tell when they are in pain. He could still have an issue even though there is no blood. I imagine that by the time there is blood the situation is really, really bad. Since this is new behavior for him he should see the vet.
