Deleting Threads/Posts

Thread Starter
I swear that not so long ago I had the ability to delete my posts. But tonight I made a thread asking for help on something and then a few minutes later managed to solve the problem myself and went to delete the thread I started, but did not see a way to delete it in the Advanced editing option. I could only edit out the content and resave the thread.

Is there a reason that post deleting was taken away from members?

You can still delete posts, but there's a time limit (and I can't recall what it is at the moment, but it's measured in minutes). Members haven't been able to delete threads for a couple of years, because some people would delete them, i.e., the first post, when they weren't pleased with the replies they got, and then the threads didn't make any sense.

If you need a thread deleted (for a good reason), just contact a mod.

Thanks for the explanation.

I just checked with this post, and do see a "Delete" option when I click "Edit". So it was because it was a post that started a thread that I couldn't delete it.

At least I know I'm not losing my mind! LOL
