Our kittens (4 months) seem to have a bit of a gas problem at the moment. I know it sounds crude and maybe a bit funny, but it's the sort of problem we haven't had with previous cats our our other two.

We are feeding them a science plan prescription diet at the moment, which is meant to eliminate tummy problems like that....

Has anyone else had similar experiences or can offer me advice?
Thanks in advance

hmm something could be upsetting their stomachs or whatever. Maybe try some cat food that is light on the stomach. I feed mine dry food, right now I'm not even sure what brand lol, and they don't fart much.
I guess light some scented candles or incense right now haha
good luck!

I have one cat who gets gas and very smelly poops, in her case, its an allergy to chicken.
Allergies are definitely where I'd be looking if a sensitive tummy formula isn't working.

I had one that was, well, smelly around that age too, but it went away as she matured although she still lets off the odd stinker, but that is maybe once a week if that. Other than wait a while and see if it goes away or gets worse, I dont know what to say. If it goes away, great, if it gets worse, a vet check is in order

Hmmmm the flavour of the food she has is chicken, and she can't be allergic to it because we fed both the older girls fresh chicken and fish for a week to settle their previous problem (they came to us with salmonella
)

Maybe it could be the salmonella wearing off or something? :/

I was not pointing to the chicken specifically, but rather the possibility of a food allergy.
The kittens are blood siblings I assume?

Let the RX diet try to do its job for a while, and see if it clears up.

Yes, they share the same father but have different mother's....So they are half sisters. One week in age apart.
How will I know if it is an allergy? What other symptoms of allergies are there?

Thanks for the help

Yep, they have been worm treated. Got even more problems now, have to take them to the vets for the fourth time today, only had them a month

I wouldn't rule out chicken just because the two sisters were fine on it, allergies aren't usually genetic.

You could always try Limited Ingredient Diets, and see if that helps.

You did not say how long you have had them on the prescription diet. If it's just been a short time, I would continue with it for a awhile to see if the issue is resolve.

I have not had a problem like this with cats but I've had a similar problem with one of my rescue dogs. Horrible gas and terrible odor with his poop. He was put on a prescription diet and it eventually cleared up the problem. Now he's eating Nutro Ultra Adult dog food which is not a limited ingredient food and he's doing extremely well on it.
