Aggression afte vet visit

I have 2 cats, brother(Brutus) and sister(Belle). After taking Brutus to the vet today for approximately 2 hours, Belle wants nothing to do with him. It started with her avoiding being in the same room as him and has escalated to her hissing and meowing/growling and charging at him.

At first I thought that it was because he smelled different. Now she is growling and hissing at me. She will smell my hand and rub against me, but if I pet her or pick her up she starts to freak out and hiss, meow and growl.

I don't know if she is sick too or if she just isn't adjusting well to the new smells. Anyone have any suggestions, remedies or advice. They are about to turn 2 next month and they've never been sick before so this is all new to me.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I believe you are right and that it is a matter of scent. A cat that is feeling off will smell different, but especially so if handled by vets that have the scent of other animals on them.

I don't believe most sick cats are outwardly aggressive, but rather are shy and withdrawn. If kitty thinks an intruder (unfamiliar cat smell) is in her territory though, she will be agitated in general.

It may be something different, but I'd certainly try the usual scent swapping and see how it goes. That is one reason I always bring both my cats to the vet at the same time though, even if one chills in the carrier.

It's vet smell. My two recently had neuter & spay surgeries. They are siblings and inseparable. Came back from vet and my big clown was hissing and growling at the little lady! I was shocked and confused, as was she. But only lasted till next day. One thing that helped was I took a blanked rubbed it on him and then thoroughly rubbed it all over her. Good luck!
