Has anyone else seen this movie? I just got done watching it. It got me to thinking about what I'd have on my Bucket List if I found out I had 6 months to a year to live....

1) The most obvious being that I would want to spend every possible minute with my son & granddaughter. My mom, too.
And, of course, the furkids.

2) I'd travel in a motor home (so I could take the cats with me) throughout the US so I could see all the places I've never seen but always wanted to - like The Grand Canyon, The Painted Desert, so many other places.

3) I'd like to go to some tropical place somewhere like Bora Bora, where there are sandy white beaches and crystal clear, sparkling bluer-than-blue oceans.

4) I've always wanted to go to Austria and see the gorgeous mountains there, and visit where The Sound Of Music was filmed.

I'm sure there's more that I'll think of, but that's it for now.

What would be on your bucket list?

The only thing on my list would be to make arrangements for taking care of Chester when I'm gone.

I have someone who will take him but nothing official or in writing.

I don't know. I really don't know.

We have our wills and the cats will go to my brother and SIL, should anything happen to us. We have funds set aside for their care. That was the most important issue for us.

I guess we'd go to Tahiti and to Ireland, if it was possible. DH has always wanted to go to Tahiti and Ireland has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I'm afraid to fly, but heck......

My DH has always said that if we had the money, he would like to travel by motor home throughout the US. It would have to be by motor home, because he knows I wouldn't go if I couldn't take the cats with us.

I'm going to have to think about this one. (You come up with some good questions!)

I would like to travel completely around the U.S., following the highways closest to the coast or border. I've actually been on a lot of them, but I want to spend the time doing it. We have an inexpensive motorhome to do it in. (Right now, you can steal great little motorhomes for very reasonable prices.)

I can go with the Ireland trip. My first choice would be to fly over there, then take a cruise ship back across to New York, reliving the trip many of our ancestors made.

I would not do anything. Well besides trying to place the cats into new homes or figure something out
I would get someone to help the cat chores tho.

I will be honest I would probably be drinking and enjoying life if I knew the cats were taken care of and I just could go in and sit with them no cleaning.

Well, I'd like to be immortal, so the bucket would never actually have to get kicked. But on the assumption that the dust will eventually get bitten and the farm will eventually get bought...

I'd like to travel the world, visiting ruins and historic places and animal sanctuaries and various kinds of factories... spend a month living entirely by myself on an island somewhere... spend another month at sea on a clipper ship... live for awhile at one great university after another, like St. Andrew's and Oxford and Cornell, taking classes in subjects that fascinate me, like physics and paleontology and medicine... buy an old building and renovate it into a beautiful home somewhere cool enough that I could plant and tend a garden with corn and lettuce and carrots and all kinds of berries... and include my mom and brother and nephew and best friends and kitties in nearly all of it, of course.

Ah, it's lovely to fantasize!

Here are a few of mine...

Drive a offroad buggy/truck
Follow the Oregon Trail in my van
Go Marlin/Tuna/Whatever fishing down in Cabo San Lucas
Travel all over Europe
Spend about 2 weeks (maybe a month) in some tropical paradise
Go on a cruise on one of those huge ships

Yes, I saw that movie and just love Jack Nicholson too. I agree with you on one of your bucket list items. I would buy an RV and travel the country with my hubby and all of my cats. I would make sure all of my furkids would be WELL taken care of. That would be my first priority
. I would also love to ride a Grand Prix test in a Dressage horse competition on a top trained Olympic caliber horse.
One that already has the moves on him and could carry me through the test with ease.

It's a really good movie, Rigel: you should try seeing it.
But be prepared to have a box of tissues handy at the end of it.

It's about two guys (Morgan Freeman & Jack Nicholson) who find out they have cancer, and only have 6 months to a year left to live. So they write out what they call the "bucked list" (as in, they're gonna "kick the bucket") of all the things they want to do before they die - which is exactly what they end up doing while in remission. It's a very bittersweet movie, and makes you think about what you'd do if you found out you only had about a year left to live...

Looking at all the answers, a lot of you want to do the travel around the US in an RV thing. I'll be doing that here by next year, except I won't have an RV, I'll have a Campervan. For those who want to do it, it isn't that hard. Yes, things are alot different but it can be done. You just go where the work is. Alot of it is seasonal of course, but there are sites out there that tell you all about it.

If you want info, let me know.

There's no place like home
I've been meaning to make up my bucket list since I saw that movie a few years ago.

I do have 1 thing on that list that I'm going to try to do later this year: Do the rim to rim to rim hike through the Grand Canyon. I'd start out at the trail head on the north rim and hike to the south rim, then turn around and hike back to the north rim. It takes at least a week if you do it right. I spent a week camping inside the Grand Canyon one time and know that it's not all that bad sleeping under the stars in that big ditch.

My bucket list will most likely involve travel. I know a woman who made up her list after seeing the movie and first on her list was to visit every continent. Last time I saw her, she had just gotten back from the Antarctic and had 2 continents left to go.

That is really exciting I bet for you. Very cool
. With my luck though, I would spend every last dollar I had on my excursion around the country, and then beat the odds and survive
and then be broke
. I guess being broke and alive would be better than the other.....
