My poor daughter...

Yesterday was my daughter's 14th birthday! It all started out well enough, being Friday the 13th. She opened prezzies before school, and her dad took her to Subway on the way to school for a sandwich for her lunchbox.

When I picked her up in the afternoon, she looked pale and said her throat was sore. It progressed quickly to a snotty cold by bedtime.

We'd planned a birthday party today consisting of bowling, then back to our house for hot dogs and cake. Four girls were invited. We had to cancel it today and reschedule for next week. At least I'd made her a "choc chip cookie ice cream sandwich cake," so it can just chill in the freezer until next week.

Anyway, felt bad that she got sick on her birthday. Colds should be outlawed! So instead of bowling right now, she's working on her English project. BUMMER.

Aww, that sucks! I used to get sick on my birthday almost every year when I was little. Of course, being on Dec 26 it was probably a mix of winter and holiday stress, as my parents were divorced, and I had mom's family thing on xmas eve, then xmas with mom, then xmas with dad, then bday parties for dad's family, mom's family, and friends. Too much!

I hope your daughter gets better soon!!!

Oh that's too bad. Poor girl.

Isn't it weird how a cold can come on sooo fast?

I hope she has an even better party!

Thanks everyone. I'm thinking her party will be better next week, as the weather may be warm enough for swimming here after bowling. I will also have a little more time to plan our craft activity (tie-dying canvas tote bags).

She's begun the cough stage already, but I keep her fortified with hot tea, so she's pretty comfortable. She should be great by next weekend.

I know just how awful it feels to be sick on your birthday. I always have the "women's sickness" on my birthday But last year I was supposed to go to Niagara Falls for my birthday and of course I get the flu. Like who gets the flu in June!? Me! That's who. lol

Aw poor sweetie. Hope she gets better soon and sounds like she will still have a great party to look forward too. I remember when my daughter was little, her b-day was in March and she got sick a few times on her b-day too. . I would make it up to her though and even would add something a bit extra special

Aww! I really feel sorry for her now. Unfortunately that is one gift I can count on every year for my birthday.
