My cat Baby is about 10 months old, she is fixed and very healthy... she was running around playing with her toy mouse, nothing out of the ordinary and I noticed a red spot on the floor ... it was blood, very red - almost mucusey and sticky. It was coming from Babys anus. I checked the litter box, there is nothing in her stool out of the ordinary and I am very worried.

Any advise on what I should do?

Vet. NOW.

Get to the ER vet if you have one nearby or at the least call the vet's office and leave a message. Often they will have an answering service or instructions for what to do during off hours.

I hope you were able to get someone to check her out. How is she doing?

Has the cat been having any problem with constipation?

It's not unusual to find a little blood in a cat's stool. Bright red is usually good; it means that there is a problem very close to the end of the colon, and that it's probably just a burst blood vessel. Hey, it's happened to me (TMI, I know), and it's scary, but the doctor just says, don't worry overly much and keep an eye out.

No, she has been using the litter box regularly.

I haven't contacted a vet yet, I am going to wait and see how she is tomorrow... I haven't found any blood since yesterday and her behavior is still perfectly normal so we will see.

Thanks for all the help.

It is more than likely nothing to worry about hun, especially if her behavior is normal, she is eating, drinking regularly, etc. Keep a close eye on her, but as Mike said, it's not uncommon. Could have been a harder than normal poo, which is the most likely cause.
