A small step on the right direction

I'd like to share a news item from the Philippines where I come from.
http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/inquire...ling-stray-cat
Animal abuse convictions here involve more on the illegal dog meat trade. I think this is the first time that it concerns one animal and one individual.
However, years ago I told you about two boys beating a cat to death. The owner filed charges but later dropped them after the boys were put on volunteer work and subjected to psychiatric evaluation.
Back to the news report, maybe some of you find the fine of US$50 low or surprised that it took 2 years to resolve. But it is good to know that there were people fighting for justice for a poor stray cat.

as you say its a step in the right direction, i dont think authourities take animal seriously, well punishment wise anyways, i feel sorry for the likes of the RSPCA when trying to prosecute and sometimes it is pityful

A conviction for cruelty to animals is definitely a step in the right direction.
