Here's Tiger, who we are fostering for the shelter. She's a sweet cat, abandoned by a previous owner at a relative's home. She's declawed and a real lover. She does NOT like being isolated in the spare bathroom. She wants attention, and she's vocal about it.

I call her "Punk," because her hair is "rough" and stands up like it's a punk haircut. She is pretty skinny, and we want to put some weight on her.

And she would want to snuggle you, too!

She's an old cat, older than I thought. Her teeth appear to be worn down pretty well. She LOOOOOVES attention! On your lap, off your lap. On your lap, off your lap. Stick her cold, wet nose under your hand or arm so you have to pet her.

Needs a flea treatment, though.

Aww, what a sweet face! I hope that her personality wins someone over soon despite her age. Old lady cats are awesome!!

Tiger is standing on my lap right now, purring and putting that cold wet nose all over my arms.

She does NOT like dry food. And I think the problem might be her teeth. I'm beginning to think she's a good deal older than we originally thought. She HATES being locked in the bathroom, but I had to leave her in there until I could get some Frontline on her, since she obviously had fleas. I would guess that means she probably also has worms, although she's been treated for them at the shelter.

She doesn't want to leave my lap at all.

In her youth, she must have been a beautiful cat, with a heavy white undercoat under that silver spotted tabby exterior.

Aww, that sounds like Dorothy (the nose thing, not the food thing- Dot'll eat any cat food!), she's always putting her cold wet nose on me, usually it's when we're face to face though, so... wet nose in my eye, or in my nostril, etc.
And she HATED being locked in the bathroom too, I wwanted her in there til we got her to the vet in 2 days.. but she meowed and scratched too much and I gave in and just let her out and tried to keep her and G-cat separated. It kinda worked.
She also marches a lot on us or on the bed/couch/chair, I guess kneading, but she does it while standing up so it looks like she's marching in place.

Like I said, old lady cats are cool! Is there some way you could maybe market her towards elderly people? Tiger sounds like she'd be a great lap cat for an older person.

I have struggled to look in her mouth, and she seems to have one good canine tooth, 1 worn one, a few of the little front teeth, and none others.

And she looks like she's none too steady walking around. I'm more and more afraid this sweet old gal is on her last legs.

I think we should offer a deep discount on elderly cat adoptions, and to elderly people who will adopt cats!

She DOES love attention. Wants to settle on your lap and stay there. A little while ago, however, she came nose to nose with Sterling and told him just where he could go.

Every time I open the bathroom door, I'm afraid she might have expired. She's not in good shape, and likely never will be again. I hope she fools me!

I'm getting more and more worried about Tiger. She's eating almost nothing, and it seems like less each day. I don't want to let her starve to death, but she is such an old cat, in such rough shape, that I'm afraid she'll be gone each time I come in the room. I have her in my office, where she can at least get some sunshine.

She continues to drink water, and she has peed plenty and pooped a little. But I haven't gotten her to eat anything noticeable today.

Yesterday, I was almost ready to give up on Tiger and take her back to the shelter to end her suffering. Then I got ambitious and figured I would at least try force feeding her.

I visited Target, and the pharmacy gave me four of the bigger syringes you can use for giving kids medicine. I also, on a whim, picked up a pouch of turkey and giblets in gravy. I figured I'd give it a try, so I put it on her saucer and gave it to her. She at least ate all the gravy, and tried to eat the meaty bits, although she seems to have trouble getting anything like that in her mouth.

So, I got some gravy and mixed it up with some wet food, to a slurry, and gave it to her. She's been pretty much cleaning off the plate each time I give her some, so I have some hope, at least.

I doubt she'll ever be adoptable, and I imagine she'll have to be euthanized eventually, but she's so sweet that I don't want to hurry it if I don't have to.

Oh, how sad. It's so good of you to be giving her all the love you can though, and trying to make her comfortable.

She's feeling much better, although, again, I suspect she's basically unadoptable.

She likes her soft food slurried with turkey or chicken gravy. She does NOT like it with beef gravy. Go figure.

She's much more alert, active, and talkative. Such a little lover!

Tiger continues to improve. I've actually seen her running around like a silly, playing, etc. She is nowhere near as needy, and she's eating quite a bit. Still only the slurry; she won't touch dry food, and even wet food with chunks in it.
