Firstly I want to know if anyone knows anything about Authority, Petsmarts' brand of food? Is it any good?
I bought one can of Chicken Recipe, and the ingredients seem to be good enough, no meals, no by-products, and only one grain source.
(All of my cat food needs to be low carb, so keep that in mind for your response.)

Secondly, I'm a bit worried about Grimalkin's weight loss..
Since I adopted him on Mar/09/11, he has gone down from ~22lbs to 18lb 11oz. Most of the time, he loses 1/2 - 1 oz a day, which is within the safe 1-2% weight loss range, but what bothers me is that no matter how much I feed him he continues to lose weight.

A bit of history on him:
I adopted him from a vet's office where he had spent 3 months in a cage. Before he got there he was much thinner (I don't know if he was overweight though) and simply from just never moving around at all, he gained lots of weight. He's FIV+ but other than chronic ear infections, has no outwardly symptoms.
I left him on the Hills Prescription Diet for a few weeks before I switched to Before Grain Dry and several different brands of wet. Then I settled on a combo of Before Grain wet and dry for a few weeks. And now he is mostly on Before Grain wet, and trying to add some other brands like Wellness and Innova into the mix.
I'd been weighing him since the 31st of March, but carrying him on a scale gave me wacky results, so I bought a baby scale. I haven't written all his weights down (bad me >__<) but he basically loses 1/2 - 1oz a day.
Here's an example of what I have:
4/22 - 19lb 5oz
4/23 - 19lb 4 1/2oz
4/25 - 19lb 3 1/2oz
5/3 - 18lb 13oz
5/11 - 18lb 11 1/2oz
5/12 - 18lb 11oz

I think I messed something up on the 3rd, because like I said, I've never seen him weigh the same two days in a row, he always weighs less. Also, between the 25th and the 3rd, he had a bout of constipation, so he wasn't eating like usual, so he lost extra weight.
I'm going to start weighing him Every Day for a week on top of trying to stuff more food down him than usual and see what happens.

I guess basically my questions are: Should I be worried? Do you think his constant weigh loss is normal simply because now he is getting good exercise and food? Is there an illness that would cause constant weight loss with no other apparent symptoms?
Help? D:
