Kitten pushing and pulling fountain around

I have a Petmate water fountain.

http://www.theanimalfiles.com/images...esh_flow_1.jpg

I bought it when I had 2 older cats. Now I have 1 older cat and 2 kittens (8 months old).

Between 3 cats drinking from it and evaporation, I found it was requiring additional water added daily, if not twice daily. I packed it up for awhile and was using a large casserole dish, but noticed that the kittens didn't seem to be drinking as much as they were with the fountain so I pulled out the fountain again.

The fountain is very quiet but if you are up very close you can hear a very soft sound from the water being aerated before it spills down the slope into the bowl.

However, Katie is fixated on that soft aerating sound and has been pushing and pulling the fountain all over the dining room as far as the cord will allow her. She isn't chewing the cord, but I have seen her put it in her mouth and pull at it as if trying to carry it off, and pulling the fountain right along with her. Somewhat cute, but still.....

Any tips on how to stop her from doing this?

Is there anything under the fountain? Maybe put a Sham Wow (or something similar) under it? I had a Drinkwell years ago before I got Daisy but Penny didn't push it. She loved that thing.

How about a really heavy pan or tray under the fountain? Something like a deep stainless steel lasagna pan might stop her. I used a heavy plastic tray under ours when we were still using it.

Well, I tried putting a rubberized mat under our fountain to try to cut down on the motor noise since it's setting on tile, and that seemed to draw the cats' attention to it more, and they kept trying to pull the mat out from under the fountain . And believe it or not, they actually managed to do it, and we've got a Drinkwell with a reservoir, so it's pretty heavy!!

Sorry, I'm no help here. Mine have never actually tried to pull the fountain itself, just the mat under it.

I have hardwood floors and have tried mats and such under it. But because none of it sticks to the floor itself, when she pulls the fountain, the mat or whatever is under it goes right along with her.

I've seen those rubberized mats that you can buy to prevent your coffee cup from sliding, I'll look for something like that.

As she's pushing and pulling it, none of the water is being spilled, so I'm not worried about floor damage. But I'd rather the fountain stay out of my walking path!
