Nose Abrasion

Thread Starter
Is there anyone that nose what this is? Found poor Wesley with his nose all messed up, and he still wants to be near me but isn't as affectionate as normal (usually wants to be on me or nuzzle until I push him away a bit).

Think thats just an unusual scrape from horsing around, or something else? Its actually indented. His breath smells ok, and he appears to be breathing OK through the nose, although I'm pretty stuffy myself.

I know after I cook (gas stovetop) the metal part remains hot for some time... don't know if he touched his nose to it when I wasn't looking. Gosh, it looks horrible. Should I just leave it be you think?

Ouchie! I would keep an eye on it and if you notice it becoming red and angry looking, a visit to the vet would be in order. Of course, you'll want to clean it after eating and after he's cleaned himself up from visiting the litter box. I'd recommend some antibiotic ointment, but it'll just get licked off. Also, watch his behavior for any signs of change that would indicate he's not feeling well and perhaps he's got an infection.

Ouch!! Poor Wesley. It could be from horsing around. Looks like a burn but I can't see any dead tissue that would indicate a burn. Pics can be deceiving though. Obviously it happened quickly so it's probably not something that has been festering. The odd thing is the indentation. It's almost like a blister or pimple has popped. If I were to just "guess", I'd say it's probably a burn. I'd keep an eye on it. Obviously he's reacting to it and I'd be on the lookout for any sign of fever. If you can keep an antibiotic on it I'd try that and see how it goes for a day or 2.
