Is abuse becoming even worse?

Is it just me, or are news reports of children being kept locked away, abused and killed becoming more and more frequent? I have to warn you, this is a really sad story to read.

I am not going to read the sad story. However I will say abuse of children has always been covered up. There are many instances where it never comes to light.

News reports do seem to be more frequent, but that doesn't necessarily mean there's more abuse, just that the public is made aware of it more often.

Hard to believe people can be so cruel. I agree that it's always been there. I'm sure there are many children buried in back yards, especially back in the day before accurate birth/death records were kept and when children and women were considered the property of the man in the family.

And while we are on the subject, jury selection is underway in the trial of Casey Anthony, accused of murdering her 2 yr. old in June of 2008. If you are interested in following this case, you can pm me for more information.

I followed it for awhile, till it got weirdly confusing. Now I think I'll just wait for the outcome. I'm going to suspect that I really don't want to know the details anyway.

Pretty sure the things my grandpa did to his kids would make the news now. Back then it was viewed as fairly normal.

Exactly, especially when the media has so many news broadcasts now.

Agreed. So many things were just covered up or ignored back then.

I just read a story about a 28 day old baby being put in a microwave! The mother was mad at her boyfriend and the baby died after her temp reached 108. People are crazy!
