Good morning folks

Todays question, and this could require some memory use for our "seasoned" members

What was your first apartment like? The first time you ever moved out of home.....

Craig and I got our first apartment in Sussex, NB and I absolutely LOVED it. I was still in High School and I could walk to school from my apartment, I felt like such a grown up
It was up 2 flights of stairs in an old victorian house, small but it was a nice place.

It was in Calgary with my ex and SO tiny... It was all we could afford though, but it was horrible. We had a prostitute who lived upstairs and a crack addict downstairs.

I moved out of my parents home straight into a dorm. That was such a fun time in my life.

My first apartment was an attic apartment I found in Brooklyn. It was very cute. 3 small rooms, kitchen, bedroom and livingroom. There was an overhead train near by, a little noisey but I knew when it was going to come back so I could go to work in New York City, no waiting . It was kind of a cold apartment. By the time the heat went through the rest of the bottom floors and came up to me it was already starting to go down. But I loved it.

I was 16 and pregnant and DH was 19. His mother co-signed for us to get a loan on a 2-bedroom trailer (I guess now they're called mobile homes). We lived in a trailer park. It was depressing and I hated it.

After Hurricane Agnes hit in 1972 and we were flooded out, we built our first home, high up on a hill. Our second home was built about a mile out the road from our first home. Believe me, we will not get flooded.

And I hope I never have to live in a trailer again.

I lived in a basement apartment. I hated it. The ceilings were so low that my boyfriend (now husband) couldn't even stand up straight, the people who owned the house turned out to be rude and my roommate was a
. I had one tiny bedroom that ended up flooding while I lived there. I lived there for about 7 months, but I think I only slept there like 4 or 5 times. I stayed with my boyfriend the rest of the time.

Me & my ex-husband moved into our first place when I was 17 and pregnant. It was a small house, and I loved it! So much so that I moved back into it again after coming back from Utah, then moving back home again to Wisconsin. I ended up living there for 22 years, before moving to Texas.

I moved into my apartment after DH proposed. We are still living here, saving to get either a town house or a house but are in no rush. our apartment is really nice and in a quiet neighborhood mostly with nice neighbors.

I loved my very first tiny apartment. One bedroom, one tiny living room with small dining area, a tiny kitchen and a small bathroom. Back then twenty-fives years ago HAAA, the rent was $375.00 per month. It was a great place. A club room for parties, and a huge pool, and tennis courts. I loved my first little home

A 900 dollars a month one bedroom in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. Terrible, dingy, dark, about 400 square feet I think. Old linoleum(?) could never get clean. The year was 1992, maybe a bit earlier.

The first apartment I lived in was a safe house for political refugees from Central America. I helped with the organization, and the place to live was a "thanks" for my work - and they needed someone to take care of the place and oversee people coming and going &etc.

It was a falling-apart two-bedroom that was set up kind of dorm style with a teeney kitchen in what was at the time Spanish Harlem. I think it's a posh neighborhood now - 106th and Columbus in Manhattan. I was friends with everyone on the block, and they all looked out for me.

When I moved out of my parents' place, I changed jobs, changed cities, changed everything -- lived at the YWCA for 5 months, which gave me a chance to get to know the city and find a half decent bachelor apartment in a suburb for the princely sum of $139 a month, which actually bought something then. But that was back in the Dark Ages. It was OK, even in retrospect.

I went from living with my parents to living with Rob 3 hours away. I moved in with his family, where we stayed for 3 years (I was going CRAZY) before our house was finished being built. Never had an apartment, though I sure did ask after about 1.5 years with the in-laws!

DH and I had a very small 1 br apartment about 2 blocks from the hospital where DH worked. Tiny livingroom, tiny kitchen with tiny eating area. The bathroom only had a shower and you got to it through our bedroom. There were about 8 apartments and the upstairs neighbor was a tiny little lady who made a lot of noise when she walked. the manager worked at the same hospital as DH did and was a great friend.
