Hi everyone...
This looks like an awesome, active forum and I'm really excited to be a part of it!
I'm Anna, I'm 22 and I live in Virginia, USA. In January of this year I moved out of my parents' house and into an apartment of my own. In the process I left behind our five sweet outdoor cats, including Pumpkin, the cutest, coolest, laziest, most mellow orange tabby you've ever met, who was born at my cousins' farm in 1998 and came to live with us the following year. He loves hugs and being held - I hold his body and he puts his paws on my shoulder and we hug like that for half an hour. He is so expressive and affectionate - he's the type of cat that makes me laugh at those stereotypes that cats don't show affection like dogs... people who believe that haven't met Pumpkin!
He's definitely my "baby" and no one will replace him, but I was getting very lonely in my apartment without someone to snuggle, so about a week ago I adopted two sweet brothers, a red tabby & a buff tabby I named Simon and Garfunkel, respectively. They are currently 7 weeks old and I couldn't be happier!
They love to play with each other and crawl all over me, especially Garfunkel, who isn't content unless he is sitting on my shoulders, in the crook of my neck, or in my hair. He's a real troublemaker, too, and has difficulty settling down once he gets excited. Simon is a big sweetheart who loves to wrestle with his brother and gets a little sad if I'm inaccessible for more than a few minutes - when I'm in the bath he stands by the tub staring at me with those big kitten eyes and mewls every few minutes to let me know he still misses me.
I'm new at raising kittens - our cats at home were usually found cats, or else came to us already of age. Being outdoor cats, we didn't have much to do except feed, pet, & vaccinate (and they all were, of course, spayed or neutered!). So even though I've always been a cat person, most things are new to me, and I'm looking forward to getting lots of good wisdom from the veteran cat owners on the boards!
^ I hope that picture works! That's me & the babies watching a movie a few nights ago. Told ya they like to sit on my shoulders!
Well, the link worked, but the picture is HUGE! Sorry about that
anyone have tips on making them smaller in the future? I just linked from my facebook.
