Hello y'all, question for those of you who are experienced with litters of kittens. Squeaky's babies are a little over 2 weeks old. The biggest one is the one who was born last, and he is about 15 ounces. His brothers and sisters are all around 14 ounces. Are they right around where they should be at this age? Thanks

The wished weigh is not easy to know, as cats are individuals depending much on ma, pa, etc...
The only sure way to know is to weigth them every day, and see if they are gaining, at least something every day, or not...Or even goes backwards...

At least none is much behind the other, so either all are well or all are not so well....
Do they seem thriwing and well, or you do have your doubts, something seems wrong?

Is the ma small or big? do you know anything about the other ancestors?
What breed / type is it?

Good luck!

I didn't get the little food scale for weighing them till they were 3 days old, but I've weighed them every day since then, at the same time each day. The first week they gained lots of weight, now it has slowed down a bit but they still gain a half ounce to an ounce daily. They all seem to be doing very well, nursing from mom and rolling around in their little nest and squeaking
They are even trying to walk about a little but aren't quite steady on their feet yet. Mom is a very small all-black domestic short-hair, only about a year old herself. Not 100% sure who the dad is, but we think he might be the 9 month old silver tabby that the mom used to live with.

I think I am just being a nervous "grandma" since I've never taken care of kittens this young before
So I always have questions and want to make sure I'm doing everything I can for them.

There isn't one "right" size for kittens. It depends on how big they were at birth, what breed mix they are, how big they're going to end up as adults, etc. As long as they're gaining weight each day they're the right size.

The forum IS for asking.

And yes, a 8-9 month male is usually fully possible to mate and get kitties.

As you describe it, everything sounds according to both plans and wishes!

(although dont forget to spay her when this is over, watch also so she dont get outside. They can get in heat also when nursing - and if in heat, they often do sneak out... With consequences you can imagine.
A also please tell owners to this tom to neuter him - unless they are REALLY determined to have more litters).

Good luck!

Btw, as you are asking about weigths and so on.

How many are they kittens? I understand it is fairly big litter, 5?

Im thinking on the moms food, if she gets enough.

What does she get?
