Hi, we have had our female, 1 yr old rescue cat for a month and we are having problems with her biting. At first it was just when she had been petted when she didnt want to be so we now read her signs and have slowly built up the time we pet her for. She is v affectionate and seems quite social, follows me around the house from room to room. Then she started nipping at ankles when we walk past and now sometimes she will just jump up from sitting on the floor when she has been quite relaxed and bite. It doesnt appear to be properly aggressive, the bite is just enough to feel her teeth and as soon as I shout no she backs down and i put her out the room straight away each time. I am concerned as we have a 2yr old and she has juped up at her a few times. When she has been playing in the garden the cat will run across the lawn and jump at her. It has got to the point today where i feel quite anxious around her. We seemed to be making progress but over the last week it has become more frequent. If it carries on I think we may have to rehome her because I cant risk my daughter getting bitten but I am hoping some advice will help me sort it out so we can avoid doing that.

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

I recently went something similar with my kitty and got a couple of good replies and a couple of people telling me that my way of dealing with it was wrong so take this as you will
What I did to stop my boy from biting is when he DID bite me I would hiss at him - a really good hiss that sounds like a cat hiss. I only used the hiss when he bit. I would Hiss right in his face then he would stop. After I hissed at him a hand full of times I can tell you this behavior has ended.
Now He will look at me and gentle bite me for attention and I say "no bite" and he stops, immediately at which point he is now rewarded for no bite.
Hang in there - there is almost always a way to get through to your kitty.
