our cat eats and eats and when she is full throws up. Dad uses an automatic feeder and is afraid he will forget to feed them with a normal food dish and since they are his he wont let me feed them ...

Is there anything I can do for her? she is also very overweight despite this.

He loves the cats but is so stubborn. I understand cats get a "pooch" when fixed but she has fat rolls despite being active and her eating habits I just dont understand it

Why is he afraid he will forget to feed them? It's not like cats won't let you know when they are hungry.

Well he also likes to take off on vacation and know they'll have food and water. Our cats areconstantly in your face talking to you so wanting to be Fed would be no different than every other minute of the day

Have you told him there are feeders that only disperse a specified amount of food at whatever time of day you want it to? They even have them for wet food.

I havent But I dont think He'd get one. That also would mean she would probably eat our other cats portion of the food too

That might happen the first time, but after that I'm sure the other cat would be smart enough to not be picky and eat it all.

No offense, but why come here and ask for advice when all of the advice you get you say 'My dad won't do that'? If you are so worried about them, and he won't let you feed them, the only solution would be to give them away.

You might get 2 of the timed auto-feeders and put them in different spots. Eventually the other cat will catch on and get to her own food before the other can get to it. Just a thought

I recently started feeding my cat Blue Buffalo, and she likes it so much that just scarfs it down and ends up throwing it up. She had never had that problem before, but I hated the idea of switching her to something different since it's such a good food and she enjoys it so much. I bought her one of the automatic timed feeders- it has five slots, but the ability to turn it up to nine times a day. It's the only way I can ensure she gets the right amount (a certain boyfriend of mine tends to overfeed her) so she can't overeat. You have to fill it once a day, which isn't so bad. Tell your dad to just set an alarm clock for the same time every afternoon, and when it goes off he knows it's time to fill the feeder.

Here's the feeder I bought from PetSmart:

What's your dad feeding your cats? I think another reason my cat started throwing up is because the pieces of her new food are pretty small, so she just swallows them without chewing. If they're small pieces as opposed to bigger triangular, star, etc. shaped pieces he may want to consider switching.
