Mid June I am adopting my first Kitten She will only be 6 weeks since she is coming from a bad home ( I'm not even sure she will make it until we can go get her) the mother breeds twice a year and many of the kittens or run over or killed by dogs. I have talked to him about fixing the mother even offered to pay but he just wont.

anyway this will be my first kitten. I am currently saving for the vet. I contacted one and they told me for the kitten package that includes an exam, the first FVRCP vaccine, Felv/Fiv test, fecal exam, and dewormer thats 96

and flea treatment is 18 for an individual application

so thats about 114 how much extra should I have?

Also i plan to feed a 1 to 1 ratio of dry to wet food. blue buffalo kitten formula and Authority wet. ( its not the best wet food but i want a pate so it coats her food instead of her demanding just the wet)
Does this sound like an Ok diet?
I was also thinking maybe I could wet her dry food with broth or something?

We do have two cats so hopefully she will bond to them enough to not have issues from being taken so early.

How can I introduce her to a collar? She will be indoor only but just in case she gets out I want her to have an ID.

And what will kill fleas ( all stages) immediately? We have none in our home so she just needs to not have any coming in. all of our cats are indoor only.

Sorry its so many questions I just want to do everything as best as i can

Welcome to the Forums!

A couple of the answers.

It is easier to make a decent wet food than a decent dry food. Thus, most wet foods are OK, even most of the cheap ones...
If she does eat wet food (my boys don´t
) Let her do it so much you can and convenient.
Food for kittens shall contain lotsa proteins and fat, mainly (preferably almost all) of animal source.

Defleaser: Se will be treated by the vet, so you probably dont need to think about it. As you plan to have her strictly indoors, with a little luck she will never need any dewormers.
Otherwise Revolution spot on is good for this. I understand it is nowdays possible to buy it without prescription. I cant swore how it is for small kittens, but for bigger kittens and grown ups it is very useful.

will the vet stuff completely kill them all stages before I take her home?

The cat food I am getting is very good its the best we have available here. the first ingredient is deboned chicken ...

I think I'll get the cheap canned food then and not really worry about it

Would a canned food main diet work?

Like a can a day with 1/4 cup dry food mixed in would that be an ok diet?

Right you have. The fleas arent dying immediately. For most rescuers it is no big deal. The new cat is usually in a quarantine some days. During this time the dewormers have time to work off.
The quarantine often the bathroom. Partly because most rescuers dont have big houses with lotsa unused rooms. But also because of the good reason it is the room which is easiest to clean afterwards. And if necessary - to sterilize.

You dont want to have this small kitty in a long quarantine, you want it as soon as possible to be adopted by your friendly residents.

Yet, you do have a natural compomise. It IS recommended such a newcomer does get a couple of days in a own, limited comparment, so it can get used to it, and get the feeling of safety and belonging.
So you can always buy a couple of at least two - three days, days who are also this oh so useful quarantine.

Look after, if it is possible to administer the dewormer before the kitten leaves her home? Say it get the dewormer at home where mom and siblings are. If it is not in a shot, it should be possible to arrange it. IF it is a shot, you can perhaps lend the kitten, say perhaps at 5 weeks, take it to the vet, get the deworming shot (or drop on, or whatever), take the kitten back... Taking the final vet check up you do just before bringing it home.
Something like that??

The plans for food you are on sounds ok.

Good luck!

she is an hour away from me so thats not really possible ... we were thinking a 1 week quarantine in my room. But we could do the bathroom I guess.

we switched the plan to 1 can of wet food and 1/4 - 1/3 dry food offered daily
