A little worried about foster, Portia.

My foster, Portia, STILL has not had her kittens! She has been with us 13 days today and I am literally shocked she's lasted this long. She was huge with a hard belly from day one and I was sure she'd have her kittens within a couple of days.

Her belly really dropped about 4-5 days ago now. I can feel the babies moving around but not nearly as much as they were about a week ago. Maybe there is just less room in there? She doesn't really like me touching her belly and she's very fluffy, so movement isn't incredibly visable, but certainly there. She's a very small cat herself, all belly and I do believe she is young, really still a kitten herself. I am thinking with her size though that the litter will be large.

She has fooled me MANY times into thinking she is going into labour, but nothing yet. She's eating well, not lethargic at all and very sweet, so I am not too worried yet, but I am thinking that if she doesn't have them this weekend that I will have the shelter make a vet appointment for her on Monday.

Wouldn't that be cool?

Well it looks like she's been doing some digging in her box as the blankets/towels are all bunched up. We'll see I guess.

Miss Portia gave birth to 4 beautiful babies last night! We have grey triplets and a little black one. I'm not sure of sexes yet, but I'll check everything out in a bit and take some pics.

I was in with her while the first 2 were born. She did GREAT and did everything right. She was in her birthing box, cut the cords, ate the placentas and cleaned the babes off perfectly. I had to go to bed thanks to work today (didn't get to bed until midnight) but this morning she is taking very good care of 4 precious little ones, all active and perfect! I thought she had double that amount inside her though.
