How do I get my cat to stop humping me?

I have a male cat who is neutered, but trys to hump my arms, and back of my head. Today he tryed to hump me, and I repetedly throw him off me. When he calmed down and lay in my lap, I thought he was finaly being a good boy, but when he got up there was a big spot of semen on my lap. He then jumped into my boyfriends chair and liked his penis that was sticking out. Can anyone tell me how to get him to stop this behavoir?

I guess I typed in instead of is! My cat was deballed about 3 months ago. the humping started just a few weeks before I got him deballed. I figured it would stop after that, and it did for about 3 weeks. He doesn't try to hump me as often as before he was deballed, but he still trys to hump me at random. he has even tried to attack my boyfriend and pull my boyfriends arm off me while we were tring to sleep.

well here is one for you: people who show cats and dogs professionally often have plastic balls put in for appearance sake, when they want to get their show animal neutered!

i thought neutering meant the same thing as a man getting a vasectomy

No, a vasectomy is a where they tie off or cut the tubes where the seamen flows. The man is still able to produce seamen, but it cannot get out "sort of speak". If the man wants to he can spend a lot of money and possibly have it undone or they can have seamen extracted by a needle and have their woman inseminated.

I've never heard of that before in a neutered cat, I know it can take up to 3 weeks for hormones to be gone after surgery (3 weeks is what I've heard anyways).

I'm wondering if the vet didn't get all the tissue or whatever it is called??
I'm hoping someone who knows the answer to this replys soon.

I can see a neutered cat going through the motions, but actually showing signs of true arousal and ejaculate makes me think the neuter surgery was a failure.

You would think it would be impossible to botch, but I've heard cases where a vet just assumed the cat only had one testicle if another was undescended and called it a day.

For now, just try dressing more conservatively and carry a rape whistle.

Castration, deballing (a word that has been used on the track for years), bain surgery, neutering, etc. is surgical removal of the testicles through two incisions in the scrotum in most cases. Sometimes with animals such as calves, lambs or kids the entire scrotum is removed either with a acalpel or other sharp knife or with an emasculation band.
As far as Neutracles go, they come in sizes ranging from cat to bull, and are frequently used by show people where one teste had to be removed for some other reason than for castration purposes (think primarily injury) and the competitor, at least with large animals, must furnish a vet certificate stating that the cosmetic enhancement has been done.
Vasectomies are rarely done in animals except in the case of teasers; this is done so the teaser can get the female to show, but not accidentally breed her if things go to far before the handler can remove him from her presence. Any male that has been vasectomised is still intact, with all equipment working and all the undesirable characteristics of an intact male.

ETA: forgot to ask..........did the vet get both testicles? Additinally, while extremely rare, there have been cases of more than the two testicles visible in the scrotum; there may be one or more still inside and although the cat appears to have been castrated, he will still retain all secondary sex linked characteristics including the ability to copulate, although he would be sterile.

Ducman69, it is entirely possible to botch any castration. Very easy to miss part of the epidemys (sp) or not take enough spermatic cord.

BigProblem, if you do a search here in the Behavior forum for "humping" you will find that you are not alone and a fair amount of cats do this. Since I have a female cat I've never had to deal with it, but you may be able to get some good advice from those threads.

Sounds like a problem with the neutering procedure. I'd take him back to the vet to see if this was unsuccessful. It's rare but it does happen. The ejaculate is what makes me think the neuter job was not successful.

One of my neutered males has been doing this for years. I spoke to the vet about it who told me it was possible to botch a female spay but not a male neuter! So not much help htere. I used to distract him with a stuffed rabbit or a furry cushion, both of which worked fine for a while. Then he transferred his affections to one of my female cats, who tolerates his attentions most of the time. They go through the whole lovey routine, from foreplay licking each other's faces to washing afterwards and then cuddling up together. I feel like a voyeur. But they are both happy, and that is what matters.

Thanks! I'll try the toy idea, and see if that works. So far though he has attacked my stuffed animals, but he has not humped them. He trys to get at my dirty undies and sniff them, and after I get out of the shower, he rolls around on my used towls. Especialy after yesterday he is realy freaking me out, and if it were not for my boyfriend being so attached to him I'd find him a new home.

I have another cat with an underwear and dirty sock fetish! Why not try and rub the stuffed toy with a sweaty shirt or something and then just quickly shove it under him at the right moment? That might give him the idea that it is all right to have a go at that.
