Meet Buddy and Holly...they turned 9 months old on 5-2-2011 (in the photo below they were only around 2 months old)
When these kitties and their mommy Gypsy first came to live with us, they were not in good shape at all. Their former "family" - our neighbors - had not made sure that mom had regular food while she was nursing them, and they were so underweight. At 5 weeks old, Buddy was only a little over a pound and Holly was only three quarters of a pound! They were also anemic, hypothermic, and horribly infested with fleas. The house where they had been living was a filthy mess with roaches running everywhere. After a trip to the emergency vet for fluids, a lot of Dawn baths and picking off fleas with a flea comb, and a few sleepless nights, the kittens finally started perking up.
Now, 9 months later, both kittens (and mom too!) are happy and healthy. Everyone has been vaccinated, Mom was fixed in February, Buddy was fixed in the beginning of March, and Holly will be getting fixed next (kinda scared about her going for surgery - she is still a bit small for her age!).
Next post will be photos of the other kitty family members....Buddy & Holly's mom Gypsy, Talley the calico, and....brand new mommy Squeaky & her almost-2-week-old babies!
