Hi y'all, new to the forum and introducing myself....
I'm Melinda from Illinois, and my husband and I have ended up "parents" of five kitties within the past year. The last one we took in turned out to be pregnant, and had 4 kittens on 4-22-2011. So, that makes a total of 9 now, but we are currently working on finding new homes for kittens once they are weaned (still thinking about maybe keeping one!).
I grew up with cats around all my life, but up till last summer we've only had our dog. Then our neighbors started abandoning cats, they started crying at our door for food, and one thing led to another... The kitties have been a wonderful blessing for all three of us - the dog loves them, and gets along with them much better than she does with other dogs or new people.
It's been very busy (especially recently with the new kittens!) with lots of added responsibility and cleaning, but I am so happy to have my feline friends so it is well worth the work!

What a sweet story about your dog and the new kitties. ..But those abandon-ers, ughh.
