Cataract surgery vibes, please

Thursday morning I go in for cataract removal in my left eye. I understand this procedure is common but I still have a few qualms about sharp objects near my eye. Right now things looks like I have petroleum jelly smeared on my glasses. It has kept me from driving and web surfing hasn't been as much fun. Good thing I can touch type and can change the size of text!

On May 17 I am scheduled to have my right eye done. It isn't as bad, but there is some cloudiness and they want to do it ASAP because of the drastic difference I will have between my vision. (It appears I have normal aging cataract in my right eye where as something accelerated it in my left eye.) .

Anyways, I appreciate any and all vibes you can spare. TCS vibes are among the best!

Of course lots of . The surgery is quite fascinating. We learned about the techniques when Aoibhe was diagnosed. At least you won't have to wear a collar for 6 weeks.

I don't blame you, I would be a bit nervous too! But all will be just fine and you will be glad you had it done. Lots of vibes for you

I have been assured by several elderly neighbours that it is a breeze; one elderly neighbour had his removed not that long ago, and his recovery time was fast for both eyes. Also a good friend (younger than me) had his done last fall, and said it was a breeze and he forgot what seeing was really like; his recovery time was even faster than the elderly man.

Good luck with your surgery

Many prayers for you today. My younger sister just had both her eyes done.
She can see better, 20/20 in one eye, than she has ever been able to see in her life.

Good luck Jan! I know it's a common surgery, but still I'd be nervous about it too. Lots of vibes for you that it all goes well.

Any surgery is always scary even if it is minor in nature. Since I live in an "adult lifestyle" building (translate that to mean seniors), a number of the owners here have had cataract surgery and now don't even need to wear glasses to see. Apparently I have the beginnings of cataracts and will need the operation within the next 3 years.

Sending lots of vibes your way for you to stay calm and the procedure to be painless and quick!

(My mom, aunt, cousin, and several other family members have had the cataract surgery and have been able to see much better afterwards! I think you will do wonderful! )

Well, guess my touch typing leaves a lot to be desired.

Had a post-op check up this morning. All is fine and even read a few letters on the 20/20 line. I think the vision is as good as it will get. I'm not near sighted in that eye anymore so to read I need the old spectacles and cover up the fixed eye.

Ari does look whiter and so no bath in his future. (Yeah, bathe the White Tornado. )

Thanks for all the vibes and good wishes and keep them handy for the 17th!

So I wonder how many baths he may have had unnecessarily

I'm glad it went well and for the next one.

Missed this thread!! Jan, so glad to hear that Round One has gone well, not that I would have expected otherwise. My Dad had both his eyes done a number of years ago, and just recently my brother has had both of his done, and all went beautifully, so we'll just keep the revved up for the 17th and you should be good to go.

(Glad you don't need to bathe the White Tornado. hehheh)

Somehow I missed this one, too. I'm glad that Thursday went well, and I wish you the very best for the 17th!
