What A Nightmare!!

About a week ago I received a letter from the Texas Comptroller's department regarding personal info from three database files that were stolen from them because someone left the info online on a public server. It was left there for a year before being discovered. The info that's in jeopardy are names & SS numbers - me being one of them. I ended up spending the day contacting my credit card companies, and having new CCs issued and alerting them of the situation. I also got a new debit card from my bank, and signed up for added protection thru the website address that the comptroller's office provided. They are providing free protection for a year thru a credit bureau if anyone's info is compromised. I read online that if anyone's info is stolen and used, that they will be reimbursed.

I have no desire to become a victim of identity theft: it took me quite some time to get my credit in good standing again after the abusive ex bf screwed it up for me. I'm gonna be real ticked off if that happens due to someone else's negligence.
I take a lot of precautions to see that it doesn't, and it would be a nightmare if it did. I know people who have had it happen to them, and it was just horrifying what they had to go thru to get everything straightened out.

What a total mess and what a total pain for you to have to go through all of that!!!!!!!!!!! I am just glad they informed you and you were able to make those changes difficult as it is. It is such a worry now-a-days with all of the identity theft going on. Hope the rest of your day is going well

Save documents on all of this. Any information sent to you, print out emails and keep them in a folder with everything else concerning it.
