Sorry I didn't get on yesterday to welcome you to the Spotlight, but I'm here now soooooooo....

Welcome to the Spotlight! To start off, a few general questions, but there's a theme (mostly): Desert island, i.e. suppose you were stranded on one... and don't worry about the technology to support your choices, that will be taken care of somehow. Just dream...

1. What would be your five Desert Island CDs? They don't need to come from your own collection. Why would you choose these particular ones?

2. You might also want some reading material. What would be your five Desert Island books? Why?

3. What else would you like to have with you to occupy your time and your mind?

4. You'll also need food. If you could have only two or three foods and nothing else, what would you choose? Why?

5. If you could have one human companion, who would that be? Why?

This one is not part of the theme:

6. If you came into a large sum of money -- an unexpected inheritance, a winning, whatever, but "set-you-up-for-life" big -- what would be the first four things you would do?

Wow these ones are tough.

1. Well, I guess my 5 favorite CD's: Awake by Dream Theater, Paradise Lost by Symphony X, Brave New World - Iron Maiden, No More Tears - Ozzy Osbourne, and Painkiller - Judas Priest. No particular reason other than I like them.
2. The Long Walk - Stephen King, Under The Dome - Stephen King, Next - Michael Crichton, The Hades Factor - Robert Ludlum, and Cell by Stephen King. Once again, no particular reason.
3. My Nintendo DS, my laptop, my Wii and a TV, a couple puzzles and my guitar.
4. Pizza!

as well as pomegranate and some carrots

. You gotta have some healthy stuff, right?

5. Probably Alex, my best friend since kindergarten.
6. First, share it with my family, then donate some to the humane society, then buy a big piece of land and make it a cat sanctuary, and then put the rest in the bank.

Return to Hangar is good, but Hangar 18 is so much better.

I love Testament. I'm not a big fan of Slayer though and I haven heard enough of Sepultura, but I've like what I've heard.

1. Playing guitar. I could play for hours on end and never get tired of it.

1. Playing with the tigers at the Calgary Zoo. My cousin works there and let me in the enclosure with them after they were done feeding. It was the most exciting and scariest event of my life.
2. Nope. I'm not a plant guy.
3. Albert Einstein. I think he would be quite interesting to talk to.
4. Australia.
5. People who swear a lot really annoy me. A little bit of swearing is ok, but if it gets to a point where half of every sentence is swears, it gets on my nerves.
6. No. I respect the idea of religion, I'm just not convinced by it.

9. Sunset. I'm not a morning person. I'd be too tired to enjoy a sunrise

10. I drive a 2005 Saturn Ion for casual driving and a Peterbilt 379 for work.

Now I have a little catching up to do, but perhaps these are not so tough...

Food and such...

1. Do you cook? Do you like to, or is it a chore?

2. Do you like to cook with someone else? How well do you share your kitchen?

3. What is your favourite thing to prepare?

4. What is your favourite dish that someone else prepares for you? Who?

5. Either of those favourites might be a comfort food, or not. What is your favourite comfort food?

6. What is your favourite celebration food?

7. When people come to my table for the first time, I always ask whether there are any allergies/sensitivities/likes/dislikes I should keep in mind. If you came to my home, what would your answer be?

8. Do you consider yourself adventurous where unfamiliar food is concerned?

9. What is your favourite meal of the day?

And assuming you DO cook...

1. Which do you prefer, electric or gas? Which do you have?

2. Cookbooks: do you like them? What's your favourite one?

3. Are you primarily a recipe cook, or do you like to fly by the seat of your pants?

And just for a little change of pace, Travel...

1. What countries have you visited? Would you visit them again?

2. Which was your favourite overall?

2. I prefer to cook alone, but I have a pretty small kitchen.

8. Absolutely. I'm willing to try everything at least once.
NOTE: Chocolate covered spiders don't taste too good. Crickets are better

1. Gas. I have electric here, but at my cabin I have gas.
2. I only have 1 actual cookbook. Everything else is just recipes I've picked up various places.
3. The first time I make something, I strictly follow the recipe. After that, I improvise here and there with this and that.

And just for a little change of pace, Travel...

1. What countries have you visited? Would you visit them again?

2. Which was your favourite overall?

3. Which was your favourite trip?

4. Would you live in any of them longterm?

1. I've been almost everywhere in Canada, every state in the USA (except Alaska and Georgia), Mexico, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Germany, and Italy. I'd visit them all again.
2. Dominican Republic
3. Mexico. I drove there so I got to see a lot of the US countryside.
4. I'd live in Germany in a heartbeat.

2. Plain, filled, or with nuts or other stuff?

3. Favourite brand?

4. Favourite chocolate recipe?

5. Do you have any traditions/rituals that revolve around chocolate?

And then a little hodgepodge...

1. Do you like veggies? What is your favourite?

2. Are your grandparents still alive? Do you know them well?

3. When you have a 'lazy' morning, how late do you sleep in?

4. Do you drive? Do you like to or is it a necessary evil?

5. What is your first language? What others do you know - not necessarily fluently, but enough to be understood?

6. How do you like your eggs cooked?

7. What is your favourite type of movie?

8. When you go to a movie do you stay to read the credits?

There's nothing better.
3. For pure chocolate, Hershey. For peanut butter filled, Reese's.
4. Don't have one.

1. Yep. Carrots are my favorite.
2. Only my Grandma on my Dad's side is still alive. I know her quite well.
3. Usually about 10:30.
4. I love driving
5. English is my first language, but I'm also fluent in German and I know some Spanish, French, Russian, and Japanese.
6. Scrambled.
7. Comedy
8. Not often, but sometimes. For example after the credits on the 2 iron man movies and the incredible hulk, they had a little clip connecting them and setting the stage for the next in the saga so I stayed for it.
9. Why they sleep in the sink.
