A friend asking for advice.

Hi guys!

I just got an email from a girl at work. They all come to me if they have kitty issues. Just had one woman tell me I saved her daughter's cat's life. He was spraying, I suggested Feliway, they got the plug in and he hasn't sprayed since. ANYWAY, this is the email I just got. I haven't had to deal with this problem, but are there any products out there that might help? I told her I'd post on here and see what I could come up with.

"Hi Kailie,

I was wondering if you knew of anything that could be used to repel cats without harming them?

My neighbours refuse to keep their pets at home, and the neighbourhood cats are using my flower beds for litter boxes. Needless to say, they’re going to kill all my flowers, plus one flower bed is right under my bedroom window, which makes the bedroom reek anytime we open it. We have a cat, and you can’t smell the litter box in my house. I don’t want my yard to smell like one. Do you know of anything I could use to scare them away?

Thanks for any ideas.
Jill"

There is a motion sensor device that is hooked up to a hose. Something moves within its target area and a pulse of water oscillates and sprays. It can be set - I believe - for distance and sweep. A friend uses one to keep blue herons away from his koi pond. Should work for cats.

Yup, my Dad uses them for skunks and old men that don't keep their dogs on leashes

He was having major skunks in his yard so he set up these water sensors, so far it's worked great. There was an old guy down the road who walked his dog at the same time everyday, he never had it on a leash and it was always poop in Dad's yard, so Dad set up in the front of his house and when the dog got too close, the dog and old man got wet (In Dad's defense, he had asked nicely before this if he would please not let his dog poop on the lawn).

It's the only thing I can think of, hopefully she comes up with a solution.
