Hi, I'm Ciegy, 19 and just moved to North Carolina. I'm typically a dog person but I'll soon be getting a new kitten who's name is Ke$ha. (Keh-Sha)
She's a little Moggy/DLH tabby with white socks and currently about 3-3.5 weeks old. (Not sure on the exact birth date) This isn't my first cat but it is my first kitten in a good 10 or so years so I'm going to play stupid and let you guys re-educate me since I can't remember....Anything about kitten care. I wont be bringing her home for a couple more weeks but want to prepare myself.

Anyways! Meet Ke$ha!

^ Me and my new baby (Wearing a corset, not neekid! LOL!)

^ Body shot

^ 3/5 of the kittens in the litter. I was holding Ke$ha and my cousin was holding a black and white kitten.

And just so they aren't left out, these are Ke$ha's future "siblings".

Chance is my almost 4 year old German Shepherd/Kelpie mix.

And this is Zoey, my 13 year old Pekingese/Pomeranian.

What a cutie! Do your dogs like cats?

Looking forward to seeing more pictures of her when she comes home!

Thank you guys for the warm welcome!

As for my dogs and cats, Zoey was actually raised with cats and for many years we are convinced thought she WAS a cat. She wanted nothing to do with dogs but spent many days laying in the sun with our neighbors cat Thomas, grooming and playing with each other. We have a picture of her when she was about a year old nursing a kitten despite never having had a litter of puppies or even the ability to lactate. But she'd lay down and let the kitten act like it was nursing as long as it wanted. A couple years later she had her own litter and she was an AWFUL mother. We think she was confused as to why they didn't look like "normal" kittens. LOL!!!

Chance on the other hand...He's been around cats, I had an adult Maine Coon/Ragdoll when we got him as a puppy but he had very little self control when it came to Jellybean being terrified of dogs regardless of how nice they were. (Meaning, Jellybean would see a dog and take off....Chance thought it was a fun game of chase) Because he was SO stressed in a house of 5 dogs, we eventually rehomed him to a family friend who had 8 other cats and lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere. (They're very well taken care of though and are allowed indoors too) He's been extremely happy there and I don't feel I could have found him anymore wonderful of a home. Since then I've worked very hard to socialize him over the last couple years to being non-reactive towards cats on the run. If they're sitting still he is ok, it's just if they show fear and run, he thinks it's a game. We've come a LONG way and I'm now feeling confident that we can make this work. I still plan to use crates, leashes and baby gates to socialize to Ke$ha specifically and make sure everyone is safe. Both my dogs kennel up when I leave the house and at night too so nobody will ever be left alone even after we're done going back to puppy mode where Chance is leashed to me or crated to make sure he can't take off if the cat runs until I *KNOW* he's 110% non-reactive to her. Stocking up on his puppy crack to reward reward reward. CATS RUNNING ARE GOOD THINGS!! Lots of treats and toys and just a big ol party when he doesn't take off after them.
Just the fact he's an adult now compared to a puppy will make a huge difference. He's got a LOT of training under his belt now and an attention span of longer than 2 seconds.

Well, I have some news. I decided to get a different kitten from the litter.
I brought Chance over to introduce the kittens to him and my original pick wanted nothing to do with him. She was the only one of the litter who just hid and hissed the whole time. Go figure. So I picked out a little black and white kitten who was more than happy to waddle up to Chance. (Who btw did FABULOUS around them!!!!!
) She's also more playful than the original kitten which will be nice.

So here is my new baby!

So beautiful !! That was a smart idea to see how they went together. Im also trying to socialize my german shep with my new kitten he is doing well aswell. Just take it slow and give him lots of treats when you pet her so he associates her with good things. So far this has worked wonderfully so far.Good luck with your new addition
congrats !
