Do you clean out your litterbox everyday?

Being a multi-cat household I do anyway just to cut down on urine odor, but it's also best to clean out your litterbox daily because it lessens the risk of your cat developing crystalizations from forming in the cats urine tract.

Yes I do and it's been that way since I got my first cat Penny. As a child I liked sandboxes anyway I make sure to use gloves so that I can laugh at the task. I actually clean something human first before tackling the litter box. Now when it comes to washing the box, I'm pretty bad at that - We're talking 1x year. In the past I was better (maybe 3x a year but I was living with family members so it was easy to ask for help)

I scoop 2 to 3 times per day. One box is in my bathroom and I scoop when I'm in there. And the other is in my bedroom. That one doesn't get used as much, but I still scoop it once or twice daily.

Yeah, I'm bad for that too. I HATE doing it...but mainly because I am in an apartment with no laundry sink and I simply do not want to wash it in the kitchen or bathroom sink. Eww lol. One of our litter boxes is due to go in the garbage. I think I'd rather replace than wash them...at least the cheap ones.

I scoop at least twice a day, wash out the box every week and give it a really good (steam) cleaning every three or four weeks when all the clumping litter is replaced.
i scoop couple times a day, as for cleaning it i haven't done that yet
is it required to clean it often ?
I scoop once daily and clean out the whole box monthly. Keeping it clean cuts down considerably on the odour.

I scoop twice a day (sometimes more if I happen to be home during the day) and change out the litter and wash out the boxes once a month. So far, so good.

I scoop morning and night which is absolutely required with the amount of kitties/boxes here.

Yep. I've got 4 cats and 4 litter boxes. I know I should have 5 litter boxes but space is a problem so I make do with 4. They are "scooped" daily with litter replaced as needed. Once a week everything is tossed, the boxes cleaned and new litter put in. It's like a full time job almost

When I was a kid, I never wanted to clean the box.

Now though, I clean it every day, usually when I get home from work (around 5:30 or 6:00). It is nice not smelling cat waste. XD

I have 2 cats, 3 boxes and scoop at least once a day often more. I then empty, wash and sanitize the boxes once a month. I hate washing them, but do not mind scooping.

There are 4 oversized boxes for my 5 cats. I scoop every day. All litter is dumped and replaced every 2-3 weeks, and the boxes scrubbed.

Keeping litter boxes clean prevents most problem elimination behaviors.

I have two cats and four large litterboxes, so once daily is enough.

I only clean the litterbox itself around once a month, sometimes two months, but if there's an obvious poopie mark or something then obviously I'll use a wet wipe and just remove that right away.

No UTIs or anything. *knock on wood*

The only odd thing I've had was a poop twice that was just right outside the door, like within a centimeter, and I think what happened is that sometimes they start their business, but then turn around and decide to dig more and a piece falls out... pretty nasty.

Definitely at once a day, more if I smell something
I take the boxes out and wash them every few months, as most of you seem to do also. It looks like I have a pretty normal litter cleaning system

I scoop 2-3 times a day and do a complete change about every 3 weeks or so and the litter boxes are scrubbed at that time.

I scoop twice a day (I have one cat, one litter box). Because Ritz (female) pees standing up (always has), it is a tall (18 inch) litter box.
I wash it about every three weeks, it would be more often but the only place I can wash it is in my bath tub due to its size.
I replace most but not all of the litter. I read that it is better for the cat to smell some of his/her own old litter because that's what she is use to.

Why not take it outside and use a hose?

I wouldn't want to take a bubble bath where cat feces was just washed off....

One cat and one box here. I scoop once a day and give a thorough cleaning on the first of every month. Thankfully, World's Best Litter does not stick to the pan and it's not a pain to scrub.

I've got 2 cats and 2 boxes, and I scoop at least once a day. Always did, even when we just had 1 cat and 1 box. I do an actual litter dump and wash-out a few times a year, or if there's a smear of something on the side, I'll just quickly wipe it off.

I had to wash the litterbox in the bath tub before we bought a house last summer.. Kinda hard to take it outside with a hose when you're living on the 10th floor. (of course we basically lived on the beach, so I could've gone down and used the ocean, but I think Long Beach ocean water would've made the box filthier!) That said, after washing out the litterbox, I made sure to wash out the tub real good too. I wouldn't want to take a litter bath either.

1 cat 1 box, I clean it 3-4x a day normally, I also have 4 ferrets with two litter pans so I just do the cat box every time I do theirs. I don't know, I'm a little anal about it and they are all on raw so there's very little odor anyways but I like it clean and I'm sure they do as well.

I have 4 cats and 4 boxes. I live in MN so don't have the option of taking the boxes outside and hosing them out Nov-April but that is the only way I will do it. I have about 10-12 boxes and when they get dirty in the winter, I empty the dirty litter and dispose and put the dirty empty box in the garage till spring. Yes, I have about 8-10 empty dirty boxes in my garage but I'd rather do that than wash them in the tub. I find deals at the discount stores on those tall plastic storage boxes (usually $2-3) and use those. They also cut down on litter everywhere.

I scoop all the time. I am just obsessed with keeping the litter boxes clean and scooped for my kids. I dump, bleach and scrub out boxes and change clumping litter every six weeks.

2 cats, 1 big box... and usually every 1.5 days. I aim for every day, but sometimes its easy to forget when it doesn't smell (they are REALLY good at burying. and I keep it pretty deep)

Once a day, scrub and fresh litter every other week.

10 cats, 5 jumbo litterboxes scooped 2x/day and wiped with Advanced Nature's Miracle if any messy-messy near the top. Recently bought extra 5 jumbo boxes so when it's time to bleach clean the first 5, I can quickly vacuum behind others, put new, clean plastic dinner mats all around the new boxes and a fresh clean rug in front of each, throw the new box down, fill all with litter - DONE!!

Can take my time cleaning. I use the kitchen sink with a super radical strainer (wearing heavy-duty gloves) while rinsing, then bleach/water rinsing the boxes, putting them outside to air dry as much as possible, then blow-drying them completley. Then washing the extra plastic mats, throwing the extra rugs in with the laundry... e voila!

Bleach is extraordinarily a must if you desire to get rid of bacteria in your boxes, though, that does build up. You only need 1 part bleach to 32 parts water. Toss on some gloves, get a cheapie scrubber and go at it! :-D Very important, indeed. My cats never get sick (I have 6 special needs, but that has nothing to do with the litter boxes).

We live in an RV so have limited space for boxes. 8 cats, three boxes. I scoop a minimum of 2x a day, bleach the boxes monthy and replace the litter; replace the boxes every six months, and I spray a light coating of Nok Out over the top of the litter each time I scoop. Works like a charm.

To scoop, I use a slotted spoon. It leaves no little pieces of clumpy litter behind at all.

I clean his box out as soon as he goes!

I have two litter boxes for my one cat in the bathroom. After he goes potty and I place his business in the trash, I just pop the bathroom's mini trash can outside my front or patio door to air out his smelly business so I don't have to walk a block to my condo's garbage. Otherwise I would be making 6 trips to the trash everyday and putting more garbage liners in the trash than I have to.

I notice that this keeps my place smelling or rather not smelling at all!! yea!! Especially since he has super smelly poos!

We have 2 cats, 3 boxes and I scoop at least twice a day. Sometimes if I'm running late in the morning, it doesn't get scooped. We change the litter out weekly, but only 1 box each week.

I scoop whenever my cat uses her dirt box. Whether it's 1's or 2's. Then once a week when there's almost no litter in her tray left, I scoop the rest out, and clean the box thoroughly.
