Problem with Midnight

Well it's not hot today, but it's been warm the past couple of days. We've had the windows open. Luna loves it, she spends all her time going from window and window, having a good time. She won't even get out of the windows to eat.

The problem is Midnight. He doesn't like the new sounds, and new scents. He's terrorfied. He spends his time crouched as close to the floor as he can get with his tail between his legs, trying to hide, or trying to be so close to me that I've tripped over him at least a hundred times so far. He's spending a lot of time in my arms, or up on my shoulder. I feel so bad for him. He's got to get used to this, because there's no way we can keep this house closed up in the summer. Luna doesn't help, he goes to her to be comforted, and she pushes him away. He keeps making these little noises. He's nervous all the time, I don't know what to do about it?

Oh, poor Midnight!
I can only hope he does get used to it. I experienced a similar problem with my cats and firecrackers. During the "explosions" I talk to them calmly and give them extra hugs and treats. Their reaction to firecrackers has gotten better. They don't bolt or get upset as much. It is really a matter of getting use to it.
Hope others can give you better suggestions.

Not to worry!!! Midnight will get used to the newly opened windows. Perla is doing the same thing, but has been better today. Although, when the neighbor started mowing the lawn she ran back downstairs for the afternoon. But tonight she is back up and looking out the window. Midnight's curiosity will get the best of him over his fear and I bet in the next few days he will be just doing fine. He also might be a more sensitive kitty and noises outside during the summer months might make him feel insecure only temporarily. My kittens are enjoying their first Spring too and the windows being open and all the outside smells are all new to them as well.

Awww, poor little Midnight. Please tell him that it's ok for him to be scared. Maia was just like Midnight when she was a kitten and it took a couple years for her to not freak out at the sound of the postal service. Of course we live in NYC, in an apartment building, and there are a lot of sounds you really don't want to get use to here. I would just watch your step for now as to not step on him, maybe carry him on your shoulder over to the window, keep talking to him and encouraging him.....he will eventually work it out on his own.

Midnight is getting better with the windows open. He gets in the window and fluffs up. At least he's in the window. Also today he was growling at my bedroom window. So I picked him up and put him on my bed. He calmed down and went to sleep. Now he's afraid of eveyrthing outside, except lawn mowers The neighbor next door mowed his lawn today, Midnight didn't react at all.

No because Feliway has never worked on Midnight. It helped Lynxx, it works for Luna when she goes to the vet or groomers, but it's never done anything for Midnight.
